The Story
A rom-com in a funeral home? Exactly.
The Story Emma Lee never expected a funeral to spark her own romantic comedy. Heading home to mourn her grandfather, she suddenly finds herself shoved into a painfully small high school dress, locked in a bitter feud over a family heirloom, and - against all odds - accidentally reconnecting with her middle-school crush. Funeral Sandwich is a love letter to the absurd reality of family grief, proving that when life falls apart, love finds a way to sneak in the back door... of a funeral home chapel.

Why This & Why Now? Because the world needs a good laugh & a good reason to believe in romance. Films today can often feel heavy, but we believe the movie theater should also be a place for joy and hope. We are making this film to give audiences a space to process the messiness of life through a lens of warmth and humor.

Why Us? We are Jorie Botelho and Brooke Figueroa, a creative duo obsessed with bringing hyper-specific, nostalgic, and emotionally grounded stories to life. We have spent months pouring over every detail of this script, assembling a powerhouse crew, and planning the first-ever Funeral Sandwich exclusive screening. We have the vision and the drive, but we need your help to actually get it on screen.

Where Are We Right Now? The script is locked, our core crew is hired, and our production dates are set. Now, we just need the funds to cover our $12,000 production budget so we can pay our crew a fair rate, rent specialized camera gear, and secure our main funeral home location.

What Happens Next? If we hit our goal, we head straight into production! From there, we will tackle post-production, submit Funeral Sandwich to top-tier film festivals across the country, and ultimately host our exclusive VIP screening.
How You Can Help! Crowdfunding is an all-or-nothing team sport. Here is how you can help us reach the finish line:
- PLEDGE: Check out our awesome incentives (like scoring an advance ticket to the exclusive screening!) and pledge whatever you can.
