Mission Statement

Future Cosmos Flow is a quest of heroic feminine mythology with fantastical, dangerous, beautiful and sensual storytelling. This film elevates and creates new archetypes of females whose courageous choices bring harmony back to their worlds and restore the balance of nature.

The Story

Birdie, a spirited girl is visited by her mysterious grandfather, who spins a fantasy tale about a ruling matriarchy living in a watery realm. Birdie begins to see visions which blur the line between reality and fantasy as she's challenged to become the next gatekeeper between these two realms. As the balance of nature is pushed to a dangerous tipping point, Birdie must make a decision that will seal the fate of both realms.

Think the films: The Princess Bride meets Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke and you get Future Cosmos Flow.

WHY NOW?

I've always had a deep connection with the element of water as a source of healing and inspiration in my life. Water has this mysterious and otherworldly power to transform pain into beauty. The health of our rivers, lakes and oceans are in jeopardy; we need to protect our water resources now more than ever.

Being a fashion designer, it's devastating to see the effects of the garment industry on our natural water resources and increasingly alarming environmental changes.

These climate conscious costumes serve as an ambassador for the slow fashion movement and convince designers that sophisticated and beautiful garments can be made without harming the environment. It's my goal to exhibit the sustainable costumes and film as a multi-medium gallery and museum exhibition to promote the slow fashion movement.

Why this story matters:

This film elevates the voices of Asian females and creates examples of leadership for young girls. One of the main characters in the story is this feisty and courageous girl, Birdie, who's inspired by my childhood. Through Birdie's character, I'm empowering Asian and BIPOC females to be strong, brave and unique; building new archetypes in our culture.
