In parallel universes, an artist meets his love on a city rooftop engaging in an electric dialogue, serving as the final turning point in their relationship. Performed in both English and Italian, the dialogue in both shorts is the same while the subtext shifts, portraying two potential outcomes.

The Story

*DISCLAIMER:Untreated, raw audio and pre post vibes!

Deeply nostalgic. Intense and Enigmatic. Gemini + Gemelli dives into the rich and deeply engaging theme of intercultural/international parallel universes.

How does Gemini + Gemelli work?

The structure of the twin shorts is the same. We follow a man through a frenetic sea of city life to a rooftop where a woman awaits, observing the passage of time. As he moves through the world, we are momentarily lost in the everyday lives of those he encounters. While the images, situations and characters he passes in each short mirror each other, the way in which they're captured slightly shifts reflecting the unique energy of each city. Once the main characters come together, we witness a conversation that serves as a pinnacle point in their relationship.

Gemini is set in NYC and is performed in English while Gemelli is set in Napoli and is performed in Italian. For the most part, the dialogue in both shorts is identical. However, as subtly portrayed by the actors, the subtexts of the shorts are oppositional, creating an entirely different tone and outcome in each piece. The subtext of Gemini reflects an ending, as he is leaving their relationship to start anew with another person. The subtext of Gemelli reflects a new beginning, as he has let go of a previous connection to explore a relationship with her.

Intercultural Bridge Building

In these times of global unrest, we the artists have the opportunity to co-create new templates of society based on intercultural harmony, acceptance and appreciation; celebrating our differences and embracing our likeness. Our approach to the making of Gemini + Gemelli is unique in that we seek to bridge the gap between filmmaking and community building. Each short utilizes the work of a different Director of Photography and film crew, mirroring the essence of the twin shorts and fostering international dialogue, inspiration and cooperation.

Dola the Director

As a director, Dola's intentions are not only to build bridges between the beautiful cultures of this world, but also to be a part of the rebuilding of bridges between the collective human consciousness and the cosmic and natural world. What does it mean to not only observe the rhythms of the cosmos and the earth, but also to consciously implement their flow into our everyday creations? What does it mean to no longer compartmentalize our human existence in relation to the existence of all that is? From scheduling in accordance to planetary alignment interpretations to directly seeking connection and co-creation with cosmic frequencies and the elements, Dola seeks to reintegrate the energetics of divine flow and receptivity in filmmaking and to break through the taboo that our modern societies have placed on being in constant communion and direct communication with the movements of the planets and the frequencies of nature.

Where we're at!

We wrapped Gemini in NYC last June and now we're just a little over two months away from filming the Neapolitan twin, Gemelli! This has been a long journey and we are so very close! All of the funds raised will go towards camera rentals, all productions costs, housing and transportation for the crew, and post production. If we raise more than intended, any remaining funds will go towards the contingency plan for fluctuating exchange rates, any costs related to future film festivals, and the building of our Gemini + Gemelli website where upon completion, the film will live!
