What happens when you accept the magic within yourself?
Girl Without Nature explores just that...

SYNOPSIS
Girl Without Nature is an experimental drama that follows Maya, a young woman who returns home to California and reunites with an old friend, Roque.

Maya finds herself caught between two worlds when Roque forces her to attend an art exhibit. There Maya meets Tlalli an artist who sees Maya for who she is. Tlalli shows her a collage of a Mexica girl, floating, atop a pyramid. This work of art transports Maya back to a memory of her younger self when she too had the ability to levitate.

Emboldened by Tlalli's acceptance of Maya she decides to show Roque her secret ability to levitate. After Roque rejects her secret ability and encourages her to hide her true self, Maya must decide what path to follow.
Maya must decide whether to show herself to the world or stay hidden forever?

As a Chicana filmmaker I believe now is the time for accurate and honorable representation of our people in storytelling and film. We deserve to see ourselves as enlightened and actualized characters. In Lak'ech and the idea of union and balance is at the core of the film's messaging and is the reason why I wrote this story. This story will hopefully be a connection to other people who feel distanced from themselves and an inspiration to them to find their truth and accept it radically.
OUR CHARACTERS

Maya is a young woman obsessed with the beach and surf culture.
Maya is afraid to reveal her true-self and feels she has to hide her cultural roots to fit in.

Production: We will be filming in writer/director Sara Angela's home of San Diego California this March!!
Post-Production: For the rest of 2025 our post-production team will be working diligently to get a cut of the film that brings the full vision of Girl Without Nature to the screen.
Premiere/Festival Run: In early 2026 Girl Without Nature will make its festival run, hopefully with a premiere at the San Diego Latino Film Festival!!
