NYC is full of people of different generations, cultures, and backgrounds interacting and caring for each other; it’s what makes our world beautiful. Glasgow is a homage to the ability of friendship to transcend those things that often separate us – especially during this time of global isolation.

The Story
When 22-year-old Kyrie delivers food to an older customer, grieving widower George, the two men form an unexpected friendship over their love for old English rock music. Then, as the men begin to open up with one another, a sensitive subject is broached, painful emotions are triggered, and their friendship seems to fall apart. Much later, as our protagonist intends to mend the broken friendship, he comes to the realization that it may already be too late.
KYRIE:
Kyrie works as a delivery guy to make ends meet. His girlfriend Luana is pregnant, which makes the couple question their future. Kyrie befriends an older customer, George, who unintentionally becomes the father figure Kyrie never had.
GEORGE:
George is an elderly man, living out his days in his Brooklyn apartment. Since the recent death of his wife, George has lost his purpose for life. Meeting Kyrie helps George reflect on his own life, but also give guidance to the young man.
The two initiators, Florian Gunzenhauser (30, director from Switzerland) and Adrian Reyes (25, cameraman from Spain), have recently moved to New York City to study at the New York Film Academy. Both are overwhelmed by how people from different generations and backgrounds interact and care for each other, making New York City what it is: the most iconic city in the world. Glasgow is their shared Thesis film for graduating their respective programs at the New York Film Academy.
Why now?
'Glasgow' talks about the importance of human interactions and how universal values like anger, joy and compassion are. We are all way more alike than different in that regard - no matter where one comes from or what one has gone through.
After more than 17 months into the global pandemic and several lockdowns, many people have experienced first hand how lonely life can be if you do not have the people care about close to you. This film is a glimpse into a hopefully brighter future, where we are once again close to one another: with all the positive and negative effects the human exchanges and relationship can have.
Adrian Reyes and Florian Gunzenhauser see this extraordinary timeline as the perfect moment for this story to be told. Now, that a certain form of normality in our society seems to be closer than ever before since the start of the pandemic. The two foreign filmmakers want to offer a glimpse into some of the millions of interactions that happen in New York City on a daily basis and how they can change someone's life forever. This is what makes life so magical!
Where are we at right now?
As of now, we as a team are fully engaged with the pre-production of this film. Buying props, rehearsing with the actors, securing the locations, doing camera tests and a lot more!
Shooting days are: September 16 - September 20 here in New York City.
This gives us about three weeks to work relentlessy towards the first day of shooting and then hopefully creating a movie we can all be extremely proud of.
Our goal is to send the finished film to as many film festivals as possible and get Glasgow out there! And this is where everybody's help comes in so handy so we can realize this project in the first place. Become part of the Glasgow family and support us. As stated in the incentives there are more than enough possibilities for our dear donors to see the finished film before everyone else does! :-)
We do need slightly more than $6000 to fund the project. Every dollar that we get more than that amount will go straight to the unbelievably dedicated and hard working crew and cast members, who mostly work for free with the planned budget.
COVID-19 safety:
The last 17 months have told us how serious the situation with COVID-19 is. The safety and health of our crew and cast members have absolute priority. Therefore, every person on set will be tested prior shooting and masks will be worn by the crew members througout the production.
SPREAD THE WORD
The only way we will reach our crowdfunding goal is if we reach beyond our networks. If you’d like to help support our vision, YOU can make the difference in our success!
Please share our campaign via your social media, email, word-of-mouth, however you want! We can't do this without you!
Thank you!
