The Story
It's difficult to put into words the continued contrast of love, hate, forgiveness, and spite that is taught from our family, let alone through a culture. Messianic Judaism is a rather unexplored, brushed over, religion that provides a unique insight into the culmination of a culture, and the closeness of a family when exploring the bond that religion has provided and taken away. Mira was a college student who took one too many philosophy classes that taught her that G-d isn't real. It completely destroyed the bond she has with her family, and when her father dies (her last representation of G-d) he takes away the last piece that was holding her to her family. But he won't let her go that easily. He's made her executor of the estate, forcing her to come back and face her siblings she had tried so hard to... ghost! Coming home, Mira is forced to reckon with her actions in life, her identity with her family, and her relationship with her culture.
At a time when we are inevitably divided, in constant war, it is important to hold onto the ones closest to us. But where do we draw the line? It's a constant question of when to accept, and when to push away that grapples our society. Although there isn't a perfect answer, it's beyond important to ask these questions and contemplate them as they appear. Denial and isolation are easier and more common than ever, but - like in Mira's case - it doesn't last forever. And we will all reach the point of being forced out of denial and made to see what is right in front of us, and it is what we do next that defines us.

Art is often about the suspension of disbelief. That form of denial can be beautiful and create its own value, but it has also taught is to stay in a false reality, take truth for granted, and misunderstand the world around us. Films like Go Home remind us of the reality we live in without distaining it. This is a film about bonding, about love, and about growth. A community left completely out of the film scene has a perspective you can't get anywhere else. We need to fund a film that gives a voice to a complex community, that ranges on all sides of the political spectrum, and teaches you the depths of humans you didn't know existed.
The money raised will contribute to this new perspective that is necessary to show what could allow peace in a time of war. What could be change in a time of stubbornness. And what could create meaning, in a world that is meaningless. This film has potential to hit deep and develop a new conversation. The team I have is consistently devoted to telling these stories and will continue to do so.
The money donated will go directly into the production as we film THIS OCTOBER! It will allow us to purchase film, props, transportation and payment for actors. The only money used from this that will go into post production will be to get the film developed so we can start editing!
