Every semester, students at OU write, cast, film, and premiere original short films from scratch. This semester's short films are: “Lovely,” a romantic drama across lifetimes, and “Mnemonic,” a noir memory mystery. Your support keeps student stories alive and gives new filmmakers their first chance.

Mission Statement

Greenlight Creative Productions (GCP) is a student-led non-profit production company at Gaylord College. GCP’s mission is to empower student filmmakers by offering hands-on experience and creating a collaborative environment that fosters creativity.

The Story

What if the next filmmaker you fall in love with is already here...

Written and directed by Hannah Mohon, Lovely is a romantic drama. Lovely follows the story of two people who may have been in love in many different lifetimes; in many different ways for one of them, the exact same for the other.

Written and directed by Luke Green, Mnemonic is a noir mystery. When a girl gets arrested for suspected relation to a robbery, a detective goes into her memories to find clues as to where the money is; however, the detective’s secrets won’t stay hidden.

Both productions are happening now, and the entire crew is made up of current students at the University of Oklahoma.

Why us?

Greenlight gives students access to a real set, real collaboration, and real responsibility. We’re asking you to support real students making real films right now. Every dollar directly fuels hands-on learning, creative risk-taking, and the kind of collaboration that can’t be taught in a lecture hall.

Why now?

For many of us, this is our first real chance to make a film and chances like this don’t fall from the sky. No one was going to hand us a set, a crew, or a greenlight, so we built it ourselves. Supporting this campaign means giving student filmmakers access to the freedom and creative space we rarely get offered. Your help funds our films and it proves students don’t have to wait to be chosen to begin.

How This Campaign Moves the Project Forward:

This campaign directly fuels the productions themselves. Every contribution goes to the real, immediate needs of these films: building visual worlds, dressing characters with intention, sourcing materials, feeding our cast and crew, and keeping the set running. Every dollar goes straight to students learning by doing. You’re helping first-time filmmakers step onto set, call “action,” and actually make something.

Where We Are Now:

We’re one month out from our premiere, and pre-production is officially in the rearview. Scripts are printed, call sheets are out, and we’re moving full force into production. And we’re already buzzing for post-production, where we get to shape, polish, and bring these films to life on the screen.

What's Next?

After production wraps, we submit these films to films festivals across the nation, giving student work a life beyond campus. We also host a campus premiere each semester; a full red-carpet, popcorn-in-hand celebration where cast, crew, and community come together to see the films on the big screen. By supporting us now, you help make that moment, where our filmmakers share their work with the world, possible.

If you believe artists deserve a beginning, help us build theirs. Pledge your support to Greenlight today!
