Mission Statement

Tax season can feel like a crapshoot for gig-workers. GROSS INCOME pokes fun at this very real predicament with joy. *Loosely* based on true events, this film asks: How far would you go to fix your life? If you could wave a magic wand...would you?

The Story

** Note and Update: We are so grateful to have received support that has taken us past our posted initial goal of $2K. Just to be clear- we have plenty more expenses involved in the process that add up to well-beyond $2,000. So... Just know that we are still accepting donations, and we will be using every single dollar received to make sure this film is the absolute best it can be! Thank you!! **

Hello and Welcome! My name is Josh Levinson, and I am the writer, director, actor, and producer of GROSS INCOME.

ABOUT THE FILM

Log Line: As Jonathan struggles to pay off his taxes, unexpected visitors offer him financial "guidance."

GROSS INCOME spins queer-coded silliness with a theme that will be very familiar with the audience. The film follows a New Yorker, Jonathan, who gets his federal tax numbers back from his accountant Nicole. The steep amount that's owed sends Jonathan on a downward spiral that only gets worse as he is visited by unexpected guests. What on Earth will he do?

PROCESS RECAP

PRE-PRODUCTION

Totaling over a year, our pre-production phase included over 17 working drafts of the script, mood boards, storyboards, casting, location scouting, and countless production meetings. ...We definitely did our homework.

Cinematographer and producer Bryant Littrean assembled an all-star crew, while directors & producers Josh Levinson and Sharlene Rädlein put together the cast, costume design and mood boards. *This is all putting it very lightly; many hours were spent on all of the above.

PRODUCTION

Our crew gathered to shoot for 3 days on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, 2 days in Long Island City, and 1 day in Brooklyn.

Everyone showed up and showed out. It was incredible, and the group's dedication constantly reinvigorated the vision of the piece.

OUR NEXT STEPS

All of the bumps and smooth stretches in the road have led us to our final phase—

POST-PRODUCTION

And, *drumroll please*......

This is where YOU come in!

We are asking for financial support to help us finish out the very exciting ride.

In this post-production phase, your generous support would go toward helping us to cover the following:

  • Editing
  • Coloring
  • Festival Application Fees
  • And More!

To be clear, this film would not be happening if it weren't for our amazing community.

We are looking forward to getting this thing done! It's been an incredible journey, and we can bring it home [ with your help! ]

We are so very excited to start sharing GROSS INCOME with the world.

We are eyeing so many wonderful festivals and are *so* excited to connect with our creative community.

YOUR SUPPORT

Again, THANK YOU for your consideration of our project, and for your constant support.

This is only the first of many projects; with several exciting scripts coming down the pipeline... :)

Stay tuned on those....

With Love,

Josh
