The Story
This is a love letter to all masked slasher horror movies. If this movie were a person, it would be a giant box, VHS Tape anthropomorphic mascot, ready to give you a big warm hug, and then hold your hand, as the two of you peruse the horror section, of that long, lost, loved video rental store...ahhh...memories...
Let's start that stroll down "Slasher Lane," with the beautiful poster artwork for RUN! done by Marc Schoenbach of Sadist Art Designs:

WELCOME TO THE FILM!
GIOVANNI FREZZA
https://www.fangoria.com/house-by-the-cemetery-giovanni-frezza-run/

Giovanni Frezza first emerged on screen as one of the most recognizable faces of
Italian cinema in the late 1970s and 1980s. As a child actor, he became a defining
presence across horror, comedy, and television commercials—his performances leaving
a lasting imprint on a generation and later becoming part of the cult legacy of Italian
genre cinema.
At the height of his success, Giovanni made the deliberate decision to step away from
acting at the age of 13—a choice he has never regretted. He chose instead to pursue a
different path, focusing on education and personal growth, eventually graduating in
physics and building an international career in the semiconductor and technology
industries.
Despite maintaining a largely private distance from his early film career, Giovanni has
remained connected to audiences over the years through select interviews, fan
interactions, and occasional appearances. His work continues to resonate with a global
fan base, many of whom still reach out regularly in appreciation of his contributions to
cinema.
Born and raised in Italy, Giovanni attributes much of his journey to the grounding
influence of his family, whose presence shaped both his early life and the values that
guided his choices beyond cinema. Over time, his path has expanded beyond
professional achievement into a deeper exploration of awareness, purpose, and the
human experience—an ongoing search that continues to inform how he moves through
the world today.
His participation in Run (Don’t Scream, Don’t Hide, Just Run) marks a rare and
thoughtful return to the screen, bringing with it not only a connection to his cinematic
roots, but also a broader perspective shaped by decades of life experience beyond the
film industry.
TIMMY HART BARRON
NKY Films is thrilled to welcome Timmy Hart Barron to the cast of RUN! as the mysterious and unpredictable “Man in the Van” — Hyde.

An award-winning actor, comedian, musician, and writer, Barron has built a reputation for blending razor-sharp comedy with an offbeat charm that can turn unsettling in an instant. A graduate of The Second City Conservatory and Musical Improv Conservatory, he’s performed everywhere from Chicago sketch stages to Norwegian Cruise Lines, while also appearing in projects ranging from commercials and music videos to indie horror films and television.
Praised by the Chicago Tribune for his “rich, ridiculous” comedic style and magnetic screen presence, Barron has earned multiple Best Actor nominations and a festival win at the NOLA Film Fest. His work effortlessly walks the line between hilarious, awkward, and deeply unnerving — making him a perfect fit for the strange world of RUN!.
Whether he’s playing lovable oddballs, intense weirdos, or chaotic wild cards, Timmy Hart Barron brings a kinetic unpredictability that audiences can’t look away from. As Hyde, the cryptic “Man in the Van,” he’s about to deliver something funny, uncomfortable, and potentially terrifying.

TARA WALSH
Tara Walsh is an Irish-born actor whose work spans independent film, theater, and commercial projects.
She received the Best Actor award at the Wolf Tree Film Festival for her performance in The Funeral Photographer.
Tara is delighted to join the cast of RUN!
WHAT'S THE FILM ABOUT?
The film follows "Run," the "first-ever masked slasher," through the eras of his career—from the gritty 70s homestead killings to the neon-soaked, merchandising-heavy 80s, and into the quippy, self-aware 90s.
In the world of the film, the "Free to Kill, You and Me" Act, a government program for population control, has turned masked slasher killers into corporate employees of "HACKENSLASH INC."
This is our way to provide a sharp social commentary on capitalism, escpecially within the evolution of horror franchises, and the way we "consume" violence as a culture.
CHARACTER DRIVEN
NKY Films & Mediatrix Films connect with character-driven stories. Run isn't just a killer, but a "working-class guy" who has been aged out of his profession.
A majority of the film takes place in a pseudo early 2000s where "torture horror" has taken over the "WB" witty dialogue era, and it is about to shift again, into a gritty, bleaker "reboot/remake" cynical cycle of sorts. During this time, Run has long since been retired and is a "forgotten has-been" living in a bleak apartment, driving for "Schnell Well" (a ride-share/delivery app), and struggling with a decades-old leg injury.
When the corporation he once help build, HACKENSLASH INC. tries to replace him with "Run 2.0," a younger, bigger, and faster model, Run has one month to train and prove he's the real deal.
VISUAL & TONAL VARIETY
With your financial support, we can secure a visual style that evolves with the story; the "orange glow" of 70s film, the "brighter colors" of the 80s, the "clean" look of the 90s, and the "greenish-grey/brown" tint of early 2000s horror.
Our commitment to practical horror effects will be paramount in this film.
Lizzie Schreibeis and her team, along with Steve Schreibeis (THE U.S.S. NIGHTMARE) will bring to life all of the fun horror/gore, as well as practical effects and props, just like they have done on our films in the past (ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD, SWEET MEATS, CASUALLY COOL).
We are also striving to bring to life "a new" but somehow "classic" slasher to life with the character of Run.
Run's Original Mask

(Design by Ricky Glore and Amy Hassebrock / Built by Amy Hassebrock)

Because a part of our story is showing how Run "slashes through the decades!" we wanted to show, that even like some of our most beloved masked boogeymen, "evolve/change/get sanded down" throughout their own "franchises"
90's Run Mask (WIP)

(Design by Ricky Glore, Amy Hasebrock and Terry Harrison / Current stage built by Terry Harrison)
WHY NOW?
Beyond the blood, satire, and genuine love/appreciation for the "genre," this project is about legacy.
Our story explores how we treat icons once they are no long "trendy." Does "creating content" literally KILL THE ART?
We have many moments that explore the bond between horror creatives and the mass community of fans.
WHO IS BRINGING IT TO LIFE? (MEET SOME OF THE TEAM!)
RUN is written by Ricky Glore, Eric M. Hunter and Gage Dailey, while Nicholas Hiance and Gage will work as Director of Photography and Lead Cameraman

RUN is a satirical horror-comedy that asks: Where do monsters go when the sequel money runs out? It’s a journey through the evolution of the slasher genre, seen through the eyes of the man who started it all. If you love the grit of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, the meta-wit of Scream, and stories about the underdog fighting to reclaim their legacy, this is the film for you. Support us in bringing the "original" back to life—one scythe swing at a time.
