The Story
What is Health Queery doing?
We are creating an ongoing podcast for the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPoC individuals, sex workers, variously-abled individuals, people with chronic health issues, the neurodivergent community, and professionals who have done work with these communities, all with the goal of creating a more open and accessible narrative about health and wellness. I'll regularly interview diverse and interesting people whose experience is already adding to this goal, to expand and amplify the the experiences and health concerns of our communities. It's a pretty in-depth project, and we need your help to get it launched!
*Please note there have been some budget adjustments since the making of the pitch video.

Why is this Important?
Since working in Pelvic Health, I've found there’s a definite subset of healthcare professionals who want to better understand and serve the LGBTQAI+ population, people with disabities, and PoC, yet they recognize it’s not the patient or client’s responsibility to educate them. Likewise, a lot of my queer (and hetero) friends from any background aren't aware of many health treatment options, or don't seek healthcare due to stigma, trauma, or lack of access. They ask me wonderful questions that I can’t always answer, but I love having a reason to reach out to colleagues for advice! Having regular contact with other medical professionals (without having to be a patient) is a great privilege -- one that I want to share with others while learning more myself.
Interacting with everyone from Doctors to Dominatrixes on a daily basis puts me in a unique space to discuss intersections and demystify questions throughout the spectrum in ways that can benefit others.
What’s Your Experience?
I’ve received numerous scholarships and grants to work in LGBTQAI+ relevant archives including The Tom of Finland Foundation, The Alfred Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction, and The Leather Archives & Museum of Chicago. While working on my Masters in Library Information Science, I studied and found passion for Oral History and interviewing. I love hooking people up with information and resources, like playing Cupid for self-empowerment!
I have an MFA from CalArts, am a Licensed Physical Therapist assistant, Pilates Coach, and a Certified Personal Trainer. I've completed numerous certifications for both internal and external pelvic floor treatments, functional movement analysis, and in gender-affirming care. I regularly work with LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, PoC, and more diverse clients in my practice. Additionally, I’ve worked internationally as a fetish model, professional dominatrix, and bellydance teacher (and yes I'm queer too!).
What's this Campaign For?
- To support the start up costs and first 6 months of this podcast focused on stories and interviews promoting more empathetic and informed considerations around Health of LGBTQAI+, Disabled, and PoC communities. This includes recording equipment, marketing, production/post-production, internet fees, software, hosting platform, our LGBTQAI+crew, and local transportation.
- To thank the people offering to help us make this happen, we're offering a range of incentives from our Digital Doctorate of Queerdom to Tom of Finland packages to classes to influence on the podcast itself.
- Not only will we bring you the full rainbow, we will also continue to "add colors" as we cultivate community and respond to listeners. Starting off big and strong means broader interaction and self-sustainability.
