THE STORY <3
Bo is facing death...but that won't work for him. When he is visited by a doctor and given his own expiration date, he runs away in order to escape time and at the very least, to do everything he hasn't done. Does time catch up to him? This experimental film tells the story of a man who just might evade his own death.
ABOUT THE FILMMAKER <3
Cailyn Fiori is the project's writer/director. Cailyn is someone who has always been unafraid of the questions of life. Why are we here? What is our purpose? How can we live to the best of our abilities?
"HEART" is inspired by the 1965 short film, "Time Piece" by storyteller and artist, Jim Henson. "Time Piece" left Cailyn thinking about those big whys of life, our collective humanity, and the thing that bonds us all: our imminent death.
THE IDEA <3
Inspired by the 1965 film "Time Piece", "HEART" is driven by and syncopated to the score. Our composer, Isabella Dussias will be using her skillset to compose an original jazz piece for the film. The music here, is just as important as the visual. Through the syncopation, the audience will join Bo on a journey of trying to do it all before he dies, or maybe even avoid death altogether.
This story is for everyone! It's a piece that seeks to continue the ongoing, existential questions of life. How can we make the most of our time on earth with the people we love, before it's too late? It's taking a big old scary topic and looking at it in an experimental and slightly silly way. It's poking fun and showing love to some of the deep feelings of dread and stress some of us feel about the end of our lives and the pressure of living our lives to the fullest.
With all going on in our day to day lives, there is not time like now to tell this story.
THE CREW <3
It's a small but mighty crew. The core team is a mix of filmmakers (from the same NJ hometown and same high school spanning several years of graduating classes), as well as some of the best creatives the NYC area has to offer. Here's the breakdown:
Cailyn Fiori is a freelance filmmaker with experience in live television and indie films.
Aaron Bartuska is an indie film producer, writer, director, and film educator.
Michael Bottega is a professional videographer and freelancer.
Isabella Dussias is a professional musician and music director.
Frankie Marasa 5th and Caroline Bergwall will star in the leading roles. They both bring some incredible experience to the table and are ready to tell this story.
THE TIMELINE AND FINANCES <3
Filming in summer of 2026, the production will take place over four days. The finances raised will cover food, equipment, space rentals, and compensation for everyone involved. So as cliché as it sounds, EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! We appreciate your consideration to donate and hope you choose to support the project. <3
THE SCREENING <3
The film will premiere in the Fall of 2026, with works from other artists and musicians that touch on the themes from "HEART", it will be a night of art, friends, food, and film. We'd love to see you there.
FINAL NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR <3
I called it "HEART" because I truly believe love is at the core of it all. This story is really important to me. It's themes and it's message are what I spend most of my days thinking about. It means so much to me that you would even take the time to read all this and see what it's all about. I am so eager to make it into something tangible, and to show you all what lives in my mind. I believe in this project and I hope you will too.
