The Story
A couple arrives at a picnic.
Will it be fun? Will it be lame? Will it be worse?

"Hi, Friends!" follows Beth and Brian as they try to navigate the dangerous waters of a friendly get-together in the park.
The film is an exploration of the inauthenticity of adult friendship. It satirizes our shallow connections and dares us to want more. It's a sweet film with a rotten core, the putrid apple of our everyday exchanges, exposing the hidden daggers (or desperation?) behind our smiles.
It's an important theme for the moment. Our sense of community has eroded, and the digital tools that promised to connect us have instead driven us apart. In an all-seeing digital world, class divides seem deeper and failure bites harder. We need to talk about these things. The film posits that we probably won't.

We have a truly incredible ensemble cast of 13 actors drawn from the comedy and theater communities here in New York. I can't wait to see how they bring these characters to life. Your support would mean the world to us!
We plan to use the money we raise to shoot on Sept, 27-29! We need to pay our actors, pay our crew, rent gear, purchase supplies, and feed everyone.
We're so excited to (hopefully) share this with you!
Yours,
The Hi, Friends production team

Lunch Day 1
Costs $500
We need to feed a cast and crew of 30 people! Food is great, but have you ever had set food?
Lunch Day 2
Costs $500
We need to feed a cast and crew of 30 people! Restaurants are great and all, but have you ever scarfed down a slice between takes?
Actor Wages
Costs $4,500
We have an ensemble cast of 13 actors! And we need to pay them!
Crew Wages
Costs $2,500
A film doesn't get made without the crew - the cinematographer, the gaffer, the grips, the PAs, the makeup team, and on and on. Help!
Camera Gear
Costs $2,000
Films look great for a number of reasons. One of them is the gear you choose to shoot with. Help us get the right gear for the job!
Festival Submission Fees
Costs $1,250
A film needs an audience; and we intend to find one. Submitting to festivals takes time and money!
Props and Costumes
Costs $600
We need some props! We need to clothe our actors! Get your head out of the gutter: this isn't that kind of film!
Grip and Lighting
Costs $1,000
You can't film what you can't see! We need grip and lighting support to make our film look just right for the story.
Sound
Costs $800
What good is dialogue if you can't hear it! We need to hire sound engineers to capture all the fun of the film.
Hair and Makeup
Costs $1,500
Our actors are already stunning but everyone wants to look their best. Help us do that!
Set Operations
Costs $1,000
We need all the accoutrement to help our set run smoothly: tents, chairs, walkies, holding area, etc.
Safety Margin
Costs $1,500
It's an unsexy must have: contingency. (The below is a joke on "BUFFER", like Bruce Buffer. We don't mind if you don't laugh.)
Location Permit
Costs $350
We're shooting in a park! And we need a permit!
Production Staff
Costs $500
We need PAs! Nothing is more valuable then many PAs.
Cash Pledge
Costs $0
