The Story
The Hitchhiker's Guide to Suburbia is a short film about Trevor, a boy who foregoes the conventional hiring of a limo for prom in favor of hitchhiking his way through the night. This takes him and his date, Alexandria, a girl who only mildly terrified by this idea, on a wild ride that pokes fun at traditional coming of age stories.
Hitchhiker's is a take on teenage Americanism: today's teens want things to fall into place with very little planning. Over the course of the movie, Trevor finds out that this prevalent teenage philosophy isn't exactly sound, and thus suffers the consequences of his actions. Over the course of the night, Trevor and Alex receive rides from a funeral-goer, a drug dealer, and a Scientologist. But it's fine.
Creators Alex Alford and Zak Denley have never not known each other, being born and raised across the street from one another. Having made films together since 2006, there are over two (combined) decades of experience backing this project (nevermind that Alex and Zak are currently 18 and 16).
Alex and Zak have always wondered why their lives don't play out like a John Green movie, and there had been talk of making a short film together since Zak had helped Alex with his Independent Study thesis film, Sticks, the story of a young girl who struggles to follow her passion for drumming in light of opposition from her estranged father. Thus, The Hitchhiker's Guide to Suburbia was born.
This is the first time any money has been raised for a production by Alex and Zak. In fact, the entire pitch video had a budget of $0. Being no strangers to no-budget filmmaking, they will make sure every dollar goes to good use.

About This Team
Zak Denley - Writer/Director
Zak is a 16-year old filmmaker from Frisco, TX. Movies have been a massive player in Zak's life as long as he can remember. Since then, Zak's love and knowledge of film have only increased.
Alex Alford - Writer/Director/Cinematographer
Alex once made a video about a boy who was infatuated with a cookie, and it got him into film school.
