Living through the pandemic, many of us took a much needed look at our inner landscape. In reaction to the threat outside, grief manifested itself in our physical bodies and the pathology of our coping mechanisms became undeniable. Hollow is an examination of experiencing and processing trauma.

The Story
What is this?
Hollow is a story we want to tell because we love horror and we want to shift the genre away from the male gaze. Think about the last time you saw zombies on screen. And were there a bunch of men running around? Men heroes? Dude zombies? Bros with big guns shooting undead guys with flesh cravings?
We're here to fill the void.
Hollow turns the tables on the zombie stories we've seen for decades. It's a story about our terrifying bodies and the emotions trapped within featuring only female identifying and non-binary characters. There is a dearth of female led zombie tales, which is odd given our familiarity with BLOOD.

What begins as a normal morning in an eating disorder recovery center...

...ends in a nightmare where the monster of endless need is unleashed.

So what's the story?
Hollow takes place in an inpatient facility for persons with eating disorders with a group of women and non-binary people who are in treatment. Our protagonist, Amelia, is also dealing with a terrible case of misophonia, an extreme intolerance to certain sounds. In her case, the sounds of eating create a trauma response so extreme that she is unable to eat or to be near anyone chewing. Her condition stems from a terrifying incident involving her family. A therapist, Dr. Diane, goes above and beyond for her patients, often to the detriment of her own personal life. She strives tirelessly to lead her patients to the other side of recovery. Other characters battle their own demons inside this small community while a larger threat looms just outside it’s walls.
In the rest of the world, an unknown illness is taking the lives of millions and scientists are unable to find a cure or a successful vaccine. When this contagion breaches the confines of the eating disorder facility, patients are confronted with a new kind of survival.
In the end, sacrifices are made and Amelia and Dr. Diane experience vital breakthroughs together. But are we ever safe inside our own bodies? Our minds? Our institutions? And what happens when if instead of fighting, we surrender to the danger?
