The Story
Homo the musical is a rocknroll farce about Gayliens from the Planet Homo taking over the earth. Why are we doing this? Because I have been obsessed with cult films since seeing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at age seven. Growing up queer in homophobic environments meant that I had to find my people elsewhere. Cult films gave me a sense of belonging and pride. Sure, the representation may have come by way of lesbian vampires or scantily clad Transylvanians with murderous impulses, but seeing people like me on screen had a huge impact. My life’s mission has been to make films that bring the same belonging to other people. Especially now when LGBTQI+ and especially trans rights are under attack daily “Homo the Musical” can bring queer joy to all people regardless of gender or orientation. We can make the planet a better place one head banging, high kicking comedy spectacle at a time. With your help the Homo team can bring this campy off-broadway musical to much bigger audiences and far away places. The team is full of pros and we know how to use the funding in the best way possible. We need dancers, spaceships, props, cameras, locations, actors and more. We have already raised 2/3rds of our budget and just need that extra boost to make this film look out of this world. THANK YOU for wanting to be a part of our world takeover! DIRECTOR-Lola Rocknrolla
Lola Rocknrolla is an award winning filmmaker, playwright, comedian and musician known for “Gaysploitaion” films like “Dragzilla”, “Nefertitty”, “Night of the Living Gay” Bloodbath of Terror”, “Nefertitty in Space” and most recently a feature length documentary. “The Big Johnson” about drag legend Dean Johnson which premiered at Slamdance to rave reviews and multiple awards. It is now available on Apple TV, Prime, cable, satellite, and more. Distributed through Freestyle Digital Media.
COMPOSER-Gina Volpe
NYC Based guitarist singer, songwriter and visual artist. Known for her bands Lunachicks, Bantam and her solo work. Gina has toured the world and written over 100 songs. Gina has written for TV and Film and has done the soundtracks for all of Lolas films. Gina’s solo albums have massive critical acclaim and her last album “Delete the World” was hailed a triumph.
Choreographer-Aliane Baquerot Wilson
Olympic Gymnast turned broadway dancer, Aliane has appeared in Saturday Night Fever and Twyla Tharps “Movin' Out” She has acted in the films Southland Tales Spider Man 3, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and danced with Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Elton John, Tony Bennett and many more.
