The Story
In a dusty attic, a tired woman struggles to bring boxes of old children's toys up for storage. When she goes to add them to the pile under a ratty bedsheet, something blocks her path -- a strange-looking dollhouse with windows stretching two floors and a set of double doors with a golden latch. The woman runs a hand over the dollhouse lovingly, only to nick her finger on a splintered piece of wood.
DRIP! DROP!

Blood falls onto the house. She tries in vain to rub out the stains but it's too late, the blood has already seeped into the wood. The woman turns back to her work with a sigh, hiding the boxes of children's toys under the sheet. The dollhouse sits behind her, unmoving... until the front doors open ever so slightly...
From behind her, a female figure rises. But not just any female figure -- one with that familiar dollhouse for a head. Complete and total darkness inside the open maw of the front doors. And she's coming right toward the woman...

If you're a fan of the modern-day, lo-fi, creepypasta-y, cryptid-y horror movement, then almost by default you're a fan of Miranda Parkin and her menagerie of messed-up creatures and creations. Each is unique and sinewy in its own right, with limbs and mouths in all the wrong places. It's easy to imagine the world she's created, one where the dark corner of an abandoned warehouse or in the woods just off the highway is host to the monsters you thought only existed in nightmares.

(Artwork by Miranda Parkin)
Then, of course, there's Housewife. A 1950s-style housewife in a simple dress and white apron with a doll house where her head should be. She wants nothing more than to love you, but her caretaking methods are... Well, we'll just call them unorthodox.

(Artwork by Miranda Parkin)
It's an idea that has been a calling card for Miranda's style and personal brand of creature design. And now we want to bring her to life, because we, like her hundreds of thousands of fans, believe that this character deserves her moment in the sun. Or, rather, in the shadows of your childhood bedroom, lulling you to sleep with her alien, robotic voice.

Aside from the fact that we're horror fanatics, we've also spent the last five years honing our craft to prepare us for this project. Our previous credits and accolades include:
- The feature screenplay BABY TEETH -- Best Horror winner in the 2022 Shore Scripts Feature Contest, Top 10 Most Downloaded Screenplays on Coverfly in 2023, and over 20+ other selections and placements.
- Our proof of concept short film for BABY TEETH called THE TOOTH -- an Official Selection of the Portland Film Festival, the Atlanta Underground Film Festival, and 10 other festivals to date. Currently streaming on Chilling, or on YouTube!
- Our first short together as co-directors, OVERLOOK, starring Jared Gilman (Moonrise Kingdom, Paterson). Winner for Best Ensemble Cast at the Los Angeles FirstGlance Film Festival! Also streaming on YouTube.
- Our second feature screenplay collaboration HATE ACTUALLY -- Second Rounder at both the 2024 Austin Film Festival and Launch Pad Feature Competition.
- Combined production experience on a multitude of major films and TV shows for A24, Netflix, Apple, NBCUniversal, Max, Showtime, Comedy Central, and so many more! Jake also spent time interning at Vertigo Entertainment (THE RING, THE GRUDGE, IT, BARBARIAN) gaining valuable insights on what makes the best horror.

With all of our previous experience and a team of frequent collaborators and long-time friends ready to bring this to life, we've never been more confident in our vision. We approached Miranda to make this not just because we love the character (trust me, we do), but also because we have a vision and story for Housewife that we're thrilled to bring to life.
The last decade has given us some of the most powerful, intense, and inspiring horror films, that changed what we thought was possible from the genre. Hard-hitting, psychological horror movies that brought trauma front and center. We love those films deeply and they've influenced how we want to tell stories. But we were also raised on the classics, the horror icons of the last several decades, and we can see and feel the love for fun, exciting, and -- most importantly -- scary characters returning. Characters like Art the Clown, M3GAN, and Gabriel tap into our nightmares in different ways, while still managing an undercurrent of what makes horror such a fun and compelling genre.

More than anything, we want to showcase why we believe --no, we know-- Miranda's HOUSEWIFE speaks to that same love of exciting and unique horror characters we love so much. A new era of Housewife Supremacy is dawning, so don't miss out on your opportunity to get in early. Mommy Dearest has a spot at the supper table saved just for you!
We are, for all intents and purposes, ready to go. Our cast and crew are assembled and we're prepared for a one-day shoot on December 16th, 2024. You can find out more about how our money will be spent in our Wishlist section, but the long and short of it is that a majority of funds will go toward paying our cast and crew. We're incredibly fortunate to have access to locations, gear, and 35mm film, so most of our major purchases and rentals are already covered.

As creatives working to produce our art in today's tough climate, we've been blessed to be surrounded by a community of artists who want to create just as badly as we do -- and we feel that they should be compensated appropriately. We've each worked on our fair share of passion projects for "experience" or to lend a hand, but compensating talented people generous enough to give us their skills and time is incredibly important to us.
The long and short of it is: the script is ready, our team is assembled, and pre-production is well underway. All we need now is your support!
We need $12,000 for us to be able to enter production and do what we need to do to get a great film in the can. However, we have the following stretch goals, each helping us with another piece of the puzzle of bringing this across the finish line.
- If we raise $12,750 we'll be able to cover post-production costs!
- If we raise $14,750 we'll be able to cover film festival submissions to ensure HOUSEWIFE's story will reach the largest possible audience.
- If we raise $15,250 we'll be able to cover the costs of running our campaign!
- If we raise $16,250 we'll be able to cover the costs of our 35mm (1800ft. of 500T) generously provided by our DP, James Russin!

(Artwork by Miranda Parkin)
- Sharing our campaign on social media is as helpful as a donation. And doing BOTH goes a long way to helping bring HOUSEWIFE to life in all of her glory! Share our posts, campaign page, and our backer updates!
- Come back to our page often -- regular visits to our Seed&Spark page not only keep you in the loop on how we're doing, it also increases our chances of being featured!
If you've read this far, THANK YOU for your interest! Housewife told us she's going to give you a ring soon to tell you how proud she is of you...
Be sure to pick up! :)

About This Team

MIRANDA PARKIN
"Housewife" Creator, Voice of Housewife, Poster Designer
Miranda Parkin is an award winning voice actor who has been represented by DPN Talent since age 5. You can currently hear her as the main character Miyo in the hit Netflix show My Happy Marriage, Hina in Netflix's Akuma Kun, Nagi in Square Enix's Neo The World Ends With You, and in a multitude of commercials. She is also a professional animator, illustrator, graphic designer, and character designer with a combined 300 thousand followers across social media, which is where Housewife first made her debut. Miranda loves what she does and wants to do it forever.

GRETA GUTHRIE
Co-Writer/Co-Director, Composer
The great-great niece of A.B. Guthrie Jr. (Shane, The Big Sky), Greta grew up in a family that cherished great storytelling and continues on that legacy in her work. She's spent her career balancing a passion for film with a love of music and playing odd instruments, yet remains increasingly resentful that she can't whistle.
After she and Jake won Best Horror in the 2022 Shore Scripts Feature Competition with their script BABY TEETH they co-directed the proof of concept together, which was picked up by Chilling for their December 2023 release. BABY TEETH was also included in Coverfly’s 2023 List of Lists as one of the Top 10 Most Downloaded Scripts of that year. Greta is currently NYC-based working in production while pursuing screenwriting.
JAKE LAZAROW
Co-Writer/Co-Director
Jake is an NYC-based filmmaker and avid movie poster collector. In high school, he was inspired by fellow New Jersey native Kevin Smith’s CLERKS to make his own indie coming-of-age film. He and his friends Kickstart-fundraised $2,000 and proceeded to make every single mistake young filmmakers could possibly make. But it was too late…he'd fallen in love with filmmaking.
He and Greta became friends on their college film club’s trip to Sundance in 2017, where they got the last two seats for the secret screening of GET OUT and it changed their lives forever. They’ve been collaborating on projects ever since, including the short film OVERLOOK, which starred Jared Gilman (MOONRISE KINGDOM). Their most recent feature script, HATE ACTUALLY, was selected as a Second Rounder at the 2024 Austin Film Festival.
SHANNON COLLIS
Actor, "The Woman/Julia"
Shannon Collis has been in the entertainment industry for more than 25 years, sharing the screen with household names like Ben Affleck, Joaquin Phoenix, and horror queen Piper Laurie. She’s been directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and George Clooney, and won Best Actress at several prestigious festivals for her role of Young Rose in the feature film SNAPSHOTS.
This is her second collaboration with Greta Guthrie and Jake Lazarow after their 2023 horror short film THE TOOTH, which earned her several Best Actress nominations. Having spent years around top talent both in front of and behind the scenes, she’s constantly working to better her craft and prides herself on her ability to convey comedy and horror with a simple look on her face.

COLLEEN GRATE
Actor, "Housewife"
Colleen Grate is an actress and singer who recently appeared in the 1st National Tour of the iconic musical My Fair Lady. Colleen has appeared in various stage productions, short films, and commercials, showcasing her talents in both musical theater and film. She is very, very scared of horror films. MBA: Boston University. BFA: Stephens College.
ANDREI DOLEZAL
Producer, "Mailman"
Andrei Dolezal is the co-founder and producer of So Precious Films, which strives to provide opportunities for artists in the film industry looking for more experience to do and try what they love. He’s also an actor on screen and stage, most recently seen on “The Sex Lives of College Girls” on Max and “NCIS: LA” on CBS.
He and James Russin, our DP, have spent the last year shooting a short film a month with several different up-and-coming writers and directors, and they are proud to say that HOUSEWIFE will make 12/12!
JAMES RUSSIN
Director of Photography
Born on the same seafaring vessel as our intrepid producer, Andrei Dolezal, their lives began with a burst of violence when their ship was attacked by bloodthirsty pirates under the command of Captain Barbosa. The two were separated, lost at sea, with Andrei drifting ashore in Sausalito while James landed in Bayonne. From there he made his way to the mystical land of Toronto, where he was introduced to motion pictures at a young age.
He pursued this interest at Penn State, where he happened upon Jake and Greta. After college, he moved to NYC and, for the first time since that fateful voyage, he reconnected with Andrei. The rest, as they say, is history. To this day, they've both sworn revenge on Captain Barbosa.
Famously not a fan of horror, he found himself on the front lines as a 2nd AC for Damien Leone's TERRIFIER 2. He's looking forward to once again facing his fears with HOUSEWIFE.
