When G. G. Silverman published her powerful short story in the middle of the pandemic, the story went viral. The script, adapted by Goldie Jones, creates a gorgeously visual reimagining of that story that shines a powerful light on the struggles of women, especially as we emerge from this pandemic.

Mission Statement

As a neurodiverse, nonbinary woman, my work has always centered women and underrepresented peoples and "I'm Sorry" is no exception. This story looks at the struggles of women that find themselves trapped between societal expectations and their own desires through a unique horror lens.

The Story

We're fully funded!  But the campaign isn't over yet!

We are so incredibly grateful for all of the love and support that has helped us reach our funding goal.  But as many of you know the funding goal is often the minimum needed for production.  We still have one day left to raise funds that will absolutely help out our production immensely.  So let's see if we can get the love going all the way to the final hour.  ONE MORE DAY!

"I'm Sorry, I Tried, I Love You" is a five minute short film based on the short story by the same name by the award winning feminist horror author G. G. Silverman.  The story was published in the middle of the pandemic and hit a nerve with audiences.  The story went viral, quickly becoming the most shared story of her writing career.

The story follows a woman as she struggles to meet society's expectations of her as a mother, a wife, and a homemaker in the face of a mysterious infestation in her home.

When Goldie Jones read the short story she couldn't get it out of her head.  She couldn't stop visualizing the story as a short film.  Her script adaptation of the story is a gorgeously visual reimagining of womens' struggles against the confinement of domestication and the possibility for evolution in a woman's life when she breaks free from those restraints.

This film brings together an award winning and diverse cast and crew to bring this story to life.

We couldn't be more thrilled to have Finnerty Steeves on board to play the lead in "I'm Sorry, I Tried, I Love You".  Finnerty is best known for her role as Beth "The Baby Killer" on Orange is the New Black.  But her credits also include Bad Education, The Blacklist, Sneaky Pete, House of Cards, and Frances Ha.

She also just completed the festival run on her feature film "before/during/after" which she wrote, produced, and starred in and has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.  This sharp-witted dramedy studies a middle-aged NYC theatre actress suddenly forced to figure out the kind of person she wants to portray in real life when her marriage comes to an end after she catches her husband cheating.

We will be filming in August of 2021 before heading into post production which will involve a significant amount of special effects, compositing, and sound design work to bring to life the crystalline shards that are at the center of this story.

We have an incredible team lined up lead by award winning writer/director Goldie Jones and award winning producer James J. Yi who produced the Sundance NEXT Audience Award winner Gook, directed by Justin Chon.

We have an Emmy award winning sound design team on deck to create the soundscape for the film.  And a SFX artist who has worked on projects such as Benjamin Button and dozens of feature films and TV shows over the last 25 years.  Just to name a few of the amazingly talented people we have contributing to this project.

Goldie Jones is an award winning Writer, Director, Cinematographer, Animator, and Editor who has been working in commercial video production and animation for 17 years and has been on sets in various roles for more than 20 years.

Goldie's most recent short, RAGE, had a successful festival run and gathered a handful of festival laurels, screened at Seattle Film Summit, was selected for the HollyShort Monthly Screening Series, and garnered an invitation to apply to the Through Her Lens directors program for women through Tribeca.

Goldie is also a published author, a 2021 Green Room Fellow, a 2020 Universal Writers Program Finalist, and a Semifinalist for the Tangerine Entertainment Fellowship for the Stowe Narrative Labs.  Her feature scripts have won dozens of awards including taking 2nd place at Slamdance and Cinequest and have been Top 5 Finalists for production grants from WIF and ISA.

Her skill set as a writer as well as her experience on set and in post production make her the ideal artist to pull this project together.

The pandemic put unprecedented demands on women.  Many women over the past year and a half have had to leave their careers to stay home with their kids.  Or they have had to juggle childcare and homeschooling while also working from home.  The pandemic has done significant harm to women in the work force and many women are struggling to figure out where they fit back into the outside world as we begin to emerge from the pandemic.

Which is why this particular story is so relevant right now and especially relevant to women right now.

Once this film is completed we plan to take it out to festivals and find online distribution for the film to share it with as large of an audience as possible.

COVID-19 SAFETY

We are dedicated to following any and all COVID-19 SET SAFETY protocols that are required for productions at the time of our shoot.  Through out the pandemic we have always worked with a Covid Safety Officer on set to enforce that all safety protocols are being adhered to and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all of our cast and crew.
