Mission Statement
The Story
My inspiration revolving around this film comes from my cancer diagnosis at just eighteen years old. I was told that I would be okay, but existential dread about death and dying occupied my mind, which was not new to me.
Thanatophobia, or commonly known as death anxiety, affects 3%-10% of people. It's a small percentage, but think about how unnoticed this fear is because of it.
With death anxiety, you might often wonder:
What happens when I die?
Will I see my loved ones again?
Or, I'm scared.
These are normal and valid fears, and no one should have to suffer alone because it's not a commonly understood fear or because it's a natural part of life. As someone who suffers from it, it was hard to talk about it. I remember having panic attacks about it and not telling anyone because they would laugh it off. When I finally opened up to my therapist about it a couple of years back, she made me feel seen regarding my fear; rather than minimizing it, my biggest fear, which was coming to this. She assured me that yes, this is normal, and to talk about it, easier said than done, but it did help, and I know that this film will start the necessary conversations to talk about this fear.
My films are introspective. They say the quiet parts out loud, which is one of the beautiful parts about film. We have films that talk about health anxieties and mental health, but I wanted to create one that centered around one specific fear: death. I hope that this creates a domino effect around talking about death. I want to break
the stigma that, while yes, the celebration of life is beautiful, it's scary to not know about the unknown. Especially in our current unpredictable environment, where mental health has gone back to being taboo again. I want this film to be a catalyst for specific mental health conversations.
Immortal is currently in the pre-production stage of production. We're finishing up our crew selections, and our current crew members are excited for the project. Casting will begin the first week of March, and we will continue our campaign on our Instagram page for the next couple of months to ensure that we receive proper funding to make our vision a reality.

Our fundraiser goal is $6,000, but when we reach our goal, I'd like to acheive $8,000 to help with post-production costs like editing, sound design, ane color grading; and additional help with our premiere screening.
