The Story
Humans are a mess of emotions, opinions, and anxieties all thrust into life together. In-Between takes a lighthearted musical look at relationships and how anxiety manifests as kids, tweens and young adults. While their parents are out for the 20 year college reunion, these youngsters are dropped off for some hang time. What ensues is a separation by age, deep reflection and a rousing game of truth or dare that threatens to tear them apart...or bring them even closer together. In-Between looks at mental health in today's youth and how we navigate that, particularly around our friends.
As somebody that works with kids and teens, both in the entertainment industry and as a nanny, things are often brought up to me by the younger generations that they are scared or anxious to bring up to their guardians or adults in general. Bridging the gap between kids and adults so that all involved are comfortable discussing mental health from a place of no judgement isn't the norm but it is paramount. My goal in co-writing In-Between is to start conversations between kids and adults and create safe spaces for all!

PROJECT UPDATES
Cast Member Imaria Ayanna
Updates are happening DAILY! This project is moving fast and the team members are SO excited!
- Vocal auditions have been sent to the lyricist/composer, Jacob Ryan Smith, who is writing the music specifically for each of the cast members!
- The Movie Musical Company Members and students of The Atlanta Workshop Players have been opening up and getting vulnerable about their mental health and struggles with anxiety. Co-Writer, Ashlyn Stallings, requested this so that the stories and topics being told are the most authentic to the performers and they are given the chance to tell stories that affect their day to day lives.
PROCESS
In-Between is in pre-production right now, we are finalizing the music, lyrics and script notes, securing the crew, and location scouting. Funds from this campaign will take In-Between from stage to screen! We are a team of kids, teens and adults eager to create art with a purpose! After post production, In-Between will hit the festival circuits, after the festival run it will be shared to the general public as an entertaining tool to get kids and adults chatting more openly and without judgement.
STRETCH GOALS
The $5,000 goal is the very bare minimum needed to get In-Between made!
- If we raise $7,000, the team will have funds in place should any surprise production costs arise, as well as cover post-production costs.
- If we raise $8,500, that will cover festival, and promotional costs so we can get the film in front of more audiences and: change the world one audience at a time!
- If we raise $10,000, the production will be able to pay our director, cinematographer, and producer. Currently, they have donated their time, efforts, talent and passion to this project as part of the training and education of the company members involved. Help us make it a well paid passion project!
Thank you so much for being a part of this project and campaign! You are an integral part of making this film! Principal photography for In-Between will take place in Atlanta, GA fall of 2023.

More than anything though, Jacob simply loves to create art in any fashion. He’s always game to collaborate and make something new out of nothing. He feels lucky every day to get to do this as a profession. He also really really really likes Survivor and hopes to play one day. Just manifesting that.
WRITER & CHOREOGRAPHER: Ashlyn Stallings was born into a family of actors and extensively trained, Ashlyn was raised with a passion for dramatic arts. She has made her mark across musical theater in New York and Atlanta, as well as brought countless roles to life on film and network TV.
She is an award winning actress who recently co-starred on AMC's 'The Walking Dead', FX's 'Atlanta', BET’s 'The Quad', appeared in the indie feature 'Breaking Glass', starred in the award winning 'Cupcake' and has honed her craft as the lead in various unique short films. Ashlyn has trained at the prestigious New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, as well as extensively in Meisner, dance, stage combat and stunts. While not in the spotlight, Ashlyn is also a film photographer and screenwriter. She looks at life as an adventure, strives to make a difference with her art, loves to knit, hike, cuddle her fur babies and also bakes really good oatmeal cookies. Like…really good. Ashlyn is currently in her most intense dinosaur phase.
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY: John Roche is a writer/director/producer from Alpharetta, Georgia. He’d always had an interest in movie making and would spend summers making silly short films with the neighborhood kids. After an internship with AWP’s Make a Movie camp John started taking filmmaking more seriously. After graduating from UGA with a degree in marketing he moved to Atlanta to pursue filmmaking full time. John started his business, Juice Factory Media, with his business partner, Ben Martin, in 2021. The duo pursued high concept creative advertising for a year before turning their sights on feature films. They wrapped production on their first feature film in the summer of 2023, a horror comedy about two boys chasing down a werewolf. “The project sounded super fun. Plus I’ve never worked on a musical before so there’s a great chance to tackle a cool new thing. I love working with AWP, Ashlyn, Lynn and Don are excellent creatives, and it gives me a chance to give back to such a cool program.”
