The Story
WE DID IT... BUT WE AREN'T DONE!
The $10,000 we have raised covers our production budget ONLY.
POST PRODUCTION: If we can raise $12,500 it would cover and enhance our post-production expenses... and I won't have to sell what's left of my soul! This covers, editing, renting edit bays, color correction, sound mixxing, creating large format versions, etc.
FESTIVAL ATTENDANCE: If we can get all the way up to $15,000, we would be covered for all festival attendance. This covers, entrance fees, marketing collateral, and travel.
If you haven't had a chance to contribute now is your chance!!
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Chris Hemsworth is a really tall, straight, surfer, celebriy actor, who is married, has children, and plays a God in movies...well, let's face it, he IS A GOD! Drew Finkelday is NONE of those things. In fact, he's pretty basic but that's all about to change!
I'M NOT CHRIS HEMSWORTH is a ridiculous adventure comedy that parodies the "mistaken identity trope". It follows Drew, a kinda basic middle-aged gay man, who wakes up to a wacky world where he must navigate crazy over-the-top characters, rubber duckies and a fast-approaching work deadline all while learning what it's like to be perceived as a celebrity!
A few years ago, writer/director Chad Steers was on a dating app and was told that he looked like Chris Hemsworth. What?! That's insane! While flattering, to him it was the most ridiculous thing ever! Then it happened again. And again. And again. And one day he was stopped and asked if he was Chris Hemsworth!
The hilarity of this life experience mixed with his love of underdog stories and making people laugh inspired this short film. Because don't we need to laugh right now? We want to bring you this surreal adventure during thes difficult times because we all need a distraction from all the crazy and dive into the subtle a exploration of how we only see people’s personalities as two-dimensional shown through the metaphor of celebrity and the parody of stereotypes.
In addition to making people laugh, Chad is motivated by a conversation he had with his grandmother shortly before she passed earlier this year. She had always been one of his best friends, but she also really wanted him to follow a more traditional path. It was only in the last few years did she start expressing regrets about that. More recently, she called him after watching an epsiode of “60 Minutes” and said there was a story about a man who decided to follow his dreams of becoming an artist at the age of 40 and she thought he should do the same.
P.S. He turned 40 in September of this year!
