Mission Statement

There are parts of the world that often get overlooked, such as Intercourse, PA. In a world that moves at the speed of light, it's important to take a step back and remember to slow down. That's what staying in Intercourse taught us as filmmakers and people. Now, we want to bring this wonder to you.

The Story

Finding community isn't always an easy thing to do. In a world where information moves at the speed of light and we're always glued to our phones, human connection can be harder than ever to achieve. With "Intercourse" we explore a small, rural, town in Pennsylvania that, despite many challenges, has maintained a simple way of life.

We explore the struggles of coexistence between the Amish and the English. How do these two groups of very different people live in harmony? How do they deal with the tourism brought on by their unique name? In "Intercourse" we explore a town that moves a lot slower than the rest of the world, despite the outside world always pushing in. This is a town that has true community and core values that differ greatly from modern society.

Three film students came together over the summer of 2022 to shoot this documentary. While there, we learned a lot about this different way of life and spoke to many people who live it. At first, the Intercourse documentary was just a way for us to make something of our own. We didn't necessarily care what. But, through research, staying in the village, and talking to the people, we became incredibly passionate about this small town. And, we feel that it needs to be discovered by others.

As filmmakers, we're used to rushing around and never having a moment to breathe. Shooting this documentary, we were forced to relax with the town and it was genuinely life-changing. Nowadays, everybody is always on "the grind." People don't value the quiet things and little moments enough. We hope that the village of Intercourse can share these values with others.

Currently, the film is in post-production, and is on track to be finished by 2023. The funding we need is for film festival submissions and to pay some people that gave us extra help along the way. The more funding we recieve, the more festivals we can put our film in, and the more people can see it. As filmmakers that are passionate about what we do, we hope to share this story with as many people as possible and bring to light a way of life that is foreign to most.

We hope you love Intercourse as much as we do! #weloveintercourse

About This Team

The three of us met while getting our assocate's in media production together. Recognizing each other's talent and creative ability, we were drawn to working together. As our final semester drew near, we realized we wanted to continue working together on something bigger than a school project. We are all passionate filmmakers and are constantly striving for greatness through the camera. When Andrew came up with the idea to shoot a documentary over the summer, Mickey and I were immediately on board. We wasted no time, immediately coming up with a plan and starting preproduction. The three of us shot over the summer with an additional friend brought on to help. Throughout preproduction, production, and now post, the three of us have mantained constant meetings and communications. Every step of this journey has been a truly collaboratie effort.

The Team:

Logan Desris is a film student at Temple University with an associate's in Media Production from NCC. For most of his life, he has had a passion for the art of filmmaking and has known that that's the only career path for him. He's worked on multiple film sets including the Daniel Roebuck film "The Hail Mary," shot in summer 2021. "Intercourse" was an opportunity for Logan to make something meaningful of his own and he has poured all of himself into it.

Andrew Barr is a Cinema, TV and Media Production student at Kutztown University with an associate's in Media Production from NCC. After an internship at PBS 39 he realized his love for telling the stories of others. The village of intercourse attracted him due to the mystery around how the town got its name. “Intercourse'' has provided an exciting start in a long line of documentaries that Andrew will be a part of.

Michael Seidick is a film student at Temple University with an associate's in Media Production from NCC. Michael has always had an interest in stortelling of every form, and has spent the last few years working on student and profesional productions. This past summer, he jumped at the chance to work on "Intercourse," and help tell the story of this small town with an attention grabbing name.
