Mission Statement
The Story
In the seclusion of a cabin reachable only by foot, four friends find themselves on a psychological trip between reality and illusions seeded from fear.
Briar - The Sitter
Astrid - The Dissenter
Willow - The Commiserator
Iris - The Obsessor
The aim is to create a visual language that reflects each of the characters’ emotional states by juxtaposing the intimate and confining space of the cabin with the dark unknown expanse of the forest. All of the visual style choices have been made with the intent of having the audience experience all of the unease and disorientation that the characters feel in the moment. For this reason, the short film has been shot entirely within one single take estimating to be around eight to nine minutes in duration.
With the use of a wide lens, the audience will experience visually the threat of being enveloped by darkness while remaining caught in the claustrophobia of the cabin alongside the characters. The use of tungsten lighting not only lends a warm and inviting ambiance to the cabin but also casts ominous shadows, highlighting the duality of safety and peril that defines the characters' experience.
Without any cuts to break the building tensions and escalating fears, there is no other option but to become submerged into the psychological thrill of the story. Throughout the film, the camera movement is fluid and deliberate, drawing from the characters' psychological turmoil and capturing their raw distress.
Zachary Noonan (he/him) has been familiar with both the consuming effects of anxiety and the compulsion of filmmaking for the better part of his twenty-eight years. With the fascination and respect that he possesses for both the art form and the mind itself, there is no one that this crew would better trust to capture the unsettling nature of a psychological thriller.
Essentially, Zach is weird and this film might get weird.
Our budget focuses on providing comfortable accommodations for our cast and crew, turning our beautiful cabin location into a more sinister one, and ensuring we have the equipment needed for our team to make this film. See the breakdown below.
We will be reimbursing gas for our cast and crew as the location is on Hubbard Lake in northern Michigan and we have talented people coming from across the Midwest.

About This Team
Zachary Noonan - Writer/Director
Zach (he/him) is a born and raised Michigan filmmaker. From a young age he has been crafting narratives that delve into the human experience; using the medium of film to explore, provoke, and entertain. His work is an intriguing blend of realistic and engaging, resonating with audiences and drawing them in. The act of bringing something new and captivating into the world is what drives him - combined with the joy of collaborating with friends and fellow artists.
Devon Murphy - Producer / Creative Producer
Devon (she/her) is a Michigan based producer that has partnered with this team for the last four years both on commercial and fiction narrative projects - including the episodic pilot Is This It? currently entering this year's festival submissions. Though her heart lies with producing, project management, and film development, when she grows up she hopes to either be adopted by Emerald Fennell or to become the third Safdie brother.
Gilian Noonan - Producer (Un-related to other Noonan)
Gillian (she/her) is a multimedia producer with experience spanning from commercial work to feature films. Her last midwest made film Walter, Grace & the Submarine is currently entering the festival circuit. She's led projects for the likes of Duolingo, FAYGO, Buzzfeed - though she finds the most meaning in creating narrative work (but don't tell her clients that). Gillian strives to cultivate environments where crews and talent have the support they need to effectively collaborate and problem-solve - two of her own talents.
Jazrielle Couran - Assistant Producer
Jazrielle (she/her) is an emerging film producer based in Grand Rapids, MI that's committed to honoring and celebrating the experiences of BIPOC, women, and the LGBTQ+ communities. She has developed a passion for social justice activism through her partnerships with local non-profit organizations such as the Grand Rapids African American Museum & Archives and The Coalition for Community Development. She's a major horror fan, tracing her passion for filmmaking all the way back to when she fell in love with the genre during childhood.
Jordan Skutar - Director of Photography
Jordan (she/her) is a Michigan-made cinematographer currently based in Chicago, IL. Having a broad range of experience from commercial work to narrative pieces, she enjoys capturing stories both on screen as a DP and behind the scenes as an on-set photographer. In her limited free time she runs a film developing business, but being involved in independent films is where her passion lies. Jordan enjoys working with both analog and digital, and strives to capture authentic stories of representation in front of and behind the camera.
