The Story
Our story is based on personal experiences with a dash of paranormal fun. We believe there is a lack of horror films that the whole family can enjoy together. Kids LOVE getting scared and there is a right way to do it where the scares are fun, the story is entertaining, and the audience bonds together. We are reaching back in time to inspiration from the family friendly Friday night films that we loved growing up.
Our team is made up of masters graduates, working professionals, and young upstarters ready to jumpstart the film industry and give the people what they want... fun movies!
Our producer, Hadley Holyoak, and our director, Porter Justus, both recently completed the graduate program at the Savannah College of Art and Design. We both decided to move our families to Utah where there is a strong presence of talent and opportunity. The locations and skill sets are unlike most places and this short film will provide an opportunity of creating and networking in an otherwise fluctuating film industry. We will use the funds raised in this platform to pay day rates for our actors and crew, pay a fee to the owners of a family cabin so they can embark on a big renovation project, and will go to renting equipment from local film studios in the Utah and Salt Lake Counties.
Once the film is shot, any left over funds will be put into paying for top notch post production team members, and entering this short film into film festivals. More funds equal higher quality visual effects and more festivals screening this fun quirky film!

Launa tries to build excitement for their vacation with her teenage son Felix. The two drive through a heavily wooded area. Launa’s divorce is the main topic of discussion. Both try to relax in the uncomfortable atmosphere when they pull up to their vacation spot:
a severely run down cabin.... great.
In an attempt to find the bright side Launa calls it ‘rustic.’ She envisions the pioneer who may have built it. Her subconscious seeps into her vision and the hunky mountain man building the roof drops a log on ‘vision Launa’ snapping her out of it. Felix senses bad vibes but they venture into the cabin anyway to discover moving books, spinning chandeliers all while Launa insists everything is FINE!
When a frayed wire zaps Launa back into reality she finally allows her son to lead her outside. She apologizes and recounts all her past mistakes while Felix is solely focusing on getting them OUT of there. Right before they walk outside, they look to see the hand shaped hook where her car keys hang has clasped shut... Launa held on too long and now the house won’t let go.
This story touches a topic that can be hard to broach: divorce, strained relationships, and missed chances. Add in some zany haunts and 90's jean jackets and the story becomes universal and a topic that audiences of all ages can relate to.

About This Team
Susanna Bezooyen is our screenwriter. She is an award winning writer who supports other writers with her Writer's Circle founded in 2019 and she has just piloted her own script writing program. Part of her work is adapting to actor brands and creating original work for them. "It's Not Haunted" was inspired by an actor interview. Susanna combined the fun and quirkiness of the subject with her own topics of interest and unique funny bone.
Porter Justus is our Director. He is a writer, director, and producer with a strong technical background in visual effects, pre-visualization, and virtual production. He recently completed his graduate studies in Film and VFX at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Porter has worked on various projects as a director and artist, including his award- winning thesis film Carved in Stone, a proof of concept titled The Pale (a virtual production rendered in Unreal Engine), and Birthday Breakfast.
Hadley Holyoak is our Producer. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a Masters in Film and TV. During her time at SCAD she produced multiple short films including Birthday Breakfast, Superposition, One Less Mouth to Feed, and Flight. Hadley has also had the opportunity to work on Independent film sets in the production office for the films A Mosquito in the Ear (2024) and Thoughts & Prayers (2025).
