BRIEF SYNOPSIS

Jenee is a about a passionate "down-home" jazz singer whose journey goes from virtually unknown to what seems to be an overnight success. Pressure and reality set in and what she thought was a dream, quickly unravels to the nightmare of success.
STORY
In the heart of Memphis, where you can find the history of greats in jazz and soul music, such as those who were on the STAX record label, there is a 20 year old powerhouse, Jenee Davis, who is packing out the clubs night after night. To look at Jenee’ Davis, you can see that she is a beauty in her own right; but what makes her more beautiful is the innocence and passion that she has for music. She often credits her parents for her love of music because she lets it be known that they believed that being grounded in the arts was just as important as being grounded in science, math, or computers. She plays the piano. She plays the guitar. And she is a vocal powerhouse. This is Jenee Davis.
She meets the mannager that changes her life and everything is changing, including her name. She needs a more marketable name. Her name isn’t good enough anymore, at least that is how she felt. No more Davis, its Skylar now. She needs to lose weight, and is expected to adopt a new diet and workout regimen. She needs to dress a certain way. She needs to be in the studio every day and work until late night. She needs to be at all the local events to showcase her talent. She needs to be at performance after performance. Lisa is pushing her and pushing her HARD. The pressure is on even through hospitalizations, sickness, depression, the show must go on! 
The dream goes on, except now, it is the ultimate nightmare. Jenee’ s entire world is doing whatever it takes to become a superstar. She is pushed like never before. She cant handle it. The drugs, the alcohol, the eating disorder, the severe pressure kicks in. But at the same time, she is winning all the awards, she is on the red carpets, she is on the magazine covers.. she is a rising star.
All this for fame, but all Jenee wants is to perform the music.
How is this a dream? It is no longer a dream for Jenee. She can't take it anymore and snaps. And in one second, everything she had was lost. Everything was gone. Including herself.
It is only when she returns to her real love of music, not fame, that she can find herself again.
