The Story

In the past, feminist movements have been lost in the tenacious machinery of gender fascism, but that doesn't mean they were forgotten. Jesus Would Have Loved Punk Rock invokes the grrl riot energy of past feminist movements to embrace a new, fun, fresh feminism. One that stands for the rights and empowerment of all women and takes seriously the differences among women, including identities based on radicalization, sexuality, economic status, nationality, religion, and language.
Don't chew gum. Don't talk back. Don't wear short skirts. These are just a few of the rules Annie and Veronica must follow every single day at St. Agnes Academy. No ifs, ands, or buts.
Until one day, both girls fight back. Rather than abide by archaic orders, the two rebellious teens break out of their shells and challenge the status quo. In the process, they transform not only themselves but also the destructive culture of their Catholic high school.

Our goal is to empower women and BIPOC behind the camera. Led by a team of all women, we are hiring from a pool of highly talented, diverse individuals who will make this movie possible. We are a ragtag bunch of independent filmmakers who know how to make a dollar stretch as far as it can. Your contributions, no matter the size, will help make this project the best it can be!

To keep everyone safe, we've scheduled our shoot dates for fall 2021 in hopes the situation in NY/NJ will improve. We expect that a majority of cast and crew will be fully vaccinated by this time. On set, proper PPE will be provided. Testing will be required for anyone working on location. All pre-production meetings and casting sessions are being held virtually. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of all involved.
