Kaleb is just an 8 1/2 yr old who loves to spy on the adults around him. He hears many things he doesn't understand. He seeks help from Ms. Kelsey, his wacky millennial neighbor, who gladly explains any and everything to Kaleb, no matter how inappropriate.

Mission Statement

In a world where we need joy & bridging the communication gap between generations, this show is here to help be that bridge. We want to make learning as an adult fun again!

The Story

It all started with a puppet named Kaleb...

When I was graciously gifted a cute new puppet by puppet maker and fellow puppeteer Langston Hatch, I instantly named him Kaleb with a K, and thought, “I can’t wait to use this puppet!”. The moment I saw his face I could hear what his voice would be. Then I asked my bubbly, bright, joyous new friend Kelsey Guy to meet me for a coffee, where I pitched this random idea I had, to make a show with her and Kaleb. A show that was bright, colorful but with a contrasting slightly sarcastic, sometimes can get a bit unhinged, humor. She loved it!

A puppet show was made...

So, A Kids' Show for Adults, called Kaleb & Ms. Kelsey was created! Where we talk about words that we might hear all the time, but don’t yet understand.

This aligned perfectly with my present reality - improv, dating apps, being chronically online - where I rely on Urban dictionary or TikTok to learn new slang or a refresher on an old term. So when you hear a word like "rizz" or need a refresher of "Ethically Non-Monogamous," you can look to Kaleb & Ms, Kelsey to help you out!

Cut to: May 2024, with the blessing and backing of my job's studio, along with a crew of my coworkers, and my writer/director/puppet friend Andrew A. Cano, we made 3 vertical videos for social media. People LOVED it! And while I knew I wanted to make more, I wasn't quite ready to take the next step.

However, The Universe took the step for me...

After I was laid off from my job at the end of 2024, I thought “This is the perfect time to continue the show”. Andrew & I started writing 7 more episodes. We decided to evolve the format, and have Kaleb teach Kelsey some Gen Alpha brain rot lingo. Then we brought in DP Matt A. Smith to visually enhance the world we’d already built. Our Production Designer, Jess Judkins, upgraded the set, and motivated the lighting so the look would vary across the episodes, and give the world more dimension.

The 2-day shoot resulted in 7 colorful, handmade, & practical effect filled videos. When we released the additional videos, we got a great response on social media, and grew this community that loves Kaleb's cuteness & Ms. Kelsey's realness. All asking us "what's next?". After helping SO many of you learn new words or refresh old ones, which is undoubtedly improving your small talk at parties, and lessening your use of the question "what does that mean again?", we want to continue to enhance all of our vocabularies. I am very proud of all the hard work my team and I have done on this show. This production has been fun, inspiring, and a creative life-affirming experience! Making 10 social media videos has inspired me to wonder, what would be the best next step for this project? Where do we grow from here? Do we make more short episodes? Or a longer form series? Do we go horizontal? If we did that, how would it look? Would there be more characters? How would episodes be structured? As a great prophet once said "You gotta think BIG b****!" Which is exactly what I am doing!

This is where YOU, our new Favorite Neighbors, come in!

Let's build the City of Papperton together!

That's right, Kaleb, Ms. Kelsey, and YOU are now citizens of Papperton (paper-ton)!

The world is on fire and the arts are in danger! And if you are here you WANT to see the arts live and believe in creativity just as much as this team does! So, with your donations, we will demonstrate the full potential of Kaleb & Ms. Kelsey as a series with an 11 minute pilot episode. We want to keep producing more episodes for YOU, our new Favorite Neighbors, to keep the joy and slang education going. We have some ambitious goals to hit, like writing the 11-minute script, translating our vertical social media show to fully horizontal web series, and building bigger cardboard sets!

How will your donations be used?

Although everything is made out of cardboard, it still costs money to make. The majority of each pledge will go toward paying our hard-working cast and crew. The rest will go to stage & equipment rental, feeding our team, (we love supporting Los Angeles small businesses), and fabrication. Together, as a neighborhood, we can continue to make great art! We will use this campaign to rally our new & future neighbors and take the show to its fullest potential, spreading our joy of pop culture & puppet show for adults for years to come! We want to ensure this goes beyond just a pilot episode.

If you give more we can do more!

We plan to shoot over the summer & complete the episode by fall (before Kaleb starts school of course). We want enter it into festivals to build even more of a following. After we shoot our pilot we want to pitch it for distribution! With this distribution we hope to be granted the ability to make more full length episodes for a full season and an ongoing series!

We are actively entering our (current) brightly colored vertical episodes into a few film festivals! We even won a few awards and gained some nominations!
