The Story
KNOCK KNOCK RUN is the story of two best friends Taylor and Miles who spend their summer filming pranks and skate tricks together all around the suburbs. It'll be their last summer together since Miles has decided to move back to New York City and live with his dad. Taylor bites his tongue while Miles raves about the city, and how he can't wait to get back there. Taylor just wants to make the best of the time they have left together. On this particular day, their friendship is put to the test. While trying to impress Mel-- a girl they both like-- a neighborhood prank goes wrong, and Taylor gets his prized camcorder stolen. In an attempt to retrieve the stolen camera, Taylor, Miles, and Mel have to face their neighborhood villain HANLEN (40’s), whose legend precedes him as a rumored murderer. Their friendship and lives are thrown into jeopardy as they attempt to steal back the camera and make it home in one piece.

Why are we doing this?
As filmmakers so much of our creative momentum stems from our childhoods. You hear so many directors say they started out by making home movies with their friends. It’s no coincidence that so many of us share that. It's something that's inside all creators, the urge to capture our reality, to tell our truths. For us, it was filming skate videos, pranks and skits. Anything, just to be able to watch it back and say “We made that!” That’s who these characters are in this film. The one’s with the urge to create, to dare each other, to push each other, to get “the shot”. We are them, and they are us.

Why us?
Our passion to create led us into the film industry, and after sharpening our skills for well over a decade and harnessing our craft, we’ve taken the inspiration of our early video-making days and dared ourselves to tell a story that captures that spirit. Now that we're all grown up, professional creators, we have the skills and the knowledge to tell this story the way it needs to be told. We’ve captured beautiful images for big clients, record labels, and movie studios, and now we’re going to capture beautiful images for ourselves. And not just for ourselves, but to encourage future generations, to keep the cycle of inspiration alive. We’re paying it back and paying it forward. This story is one that we need to tell, that’s been brewing inside us since we were 14-year-old kids running around with a camcorder, pulling pranks and skating around the suburbs. The moment has finally arrived, and we know we can make it great. We just need your help.

Where we're at...
We’ve assembled a crew who we know, love, and trust. We’ve begun casting with an aim for authenticity and we’ve scouted locations that are absolutely perfect to tell this story. The world we want to present is one that’s been carefully curated. Our connections in the film world have gifted us with an abundance of beautiful locations, set dressing, and highly qualified technicians to bring it all to life.

How you can help...
The funding we’re requesting will empower our team to do this the right way and to give this film the love it deserves. That love sometimes comes in the form of portable bathrooms, travel expenses, wardrobe purchases, camera accessories, lighting automation, and COFFEE. There are so many things that make a film set run smoothly, and they all cost money. If our cast and crew don’t have the things they need to operate at their highest level, it's only a disservice to them and the overall project. We know where and how to spend this money, and it will all empower our people. If we raise more than our funding goal, it only elevates the quality and success of the film. More time and money to spend on color correction, sound design, and editing. A bigger promotional push, more film festival submissions, a bigger audience. It’s just more fuel in the tank to make this thing go even further.
And the more you share on social media and help spread the word, the destiny of this project only grows. The more you pledge, the better the film will be. So please, follow our campaign, and share the link to this page, so we can reach an even bigger audience and put your pledge to even better use! Thank you!

About This Team
Director/Editor: Steve Perrong
Steve is an award-winning commercial director and editor for Neighborhood Film Company. He has directed projects for Nike, Netflix, Apple TV, Universal Pictures, NFL, AMC, and many more. He recently returned from directing a major commercial campaign shot in the US, Australia, and the UK.
His approach is rooted in docu-style realism, bringing an ability to heighten beauty without sacrificing authenticity. He offers technical expertise and a distinct vision to his work. His love for filmmaking began while he was making movies with his friends. Most of those movies involved knocking on doors and running away and jumping off of any roof he could find. This led to being chased, injuries like a sprained wrist, a broken nose, broken ribs, as well as community service.
Go birds.
Writer/Producer: Andrew Joffe
Andrew Joffe is a filmmaker with 13 years experience. As a creator he’s made dozens of music videos, commercials and industrials, as well as having written a multitude of screenplays in the form of features, pilots and short films. At the height of his music video career he directed videos for artists like Paramore, Underoath, Misterviews, Becky G, & Lindsey Stirling, while being signed to the roster of a prolific LA-based production company. He now works on major motion pictures and television/streaming series for studios like HBO, Netflix, Apple, & Hulu as a gaffer & lighting technician in NYC-based Local 52.
Andrew is married and has three young children. As a parent he tries (and often fails) to find the balance between screen time and good old fashioned fun outside. It’s partly this struggle as a parent that inspired Andrew to work with Steve Perrong on crafting the story of KNOCK KNOCK RUN. Remembering a childhood spent outside, roaming the neighborhood on bikes and skateboards, staying out past dark, pulling pranks and getting into trouble. It’s a timeless childhood experience that Andrew hopes his kids will discover and explore with their friends just like he did.
