The Story
What's it about?
Witnessing ridiculous dad behavior at kids’ birthdays has truly been a comedic bright light in those sometimes excruciating Saturdays at the park. There’s just something about dads. They’re trying so hard and they’re somehow also not trying at all.

Mark is one of those dads, we know right away when we see his wife’s concerned face as he heads out to his one party task, save the tables. This guy’s gonna blow it.
The reason why turns out to be Edmund. Who is this mysterious stranger, just chillin at a park by himself first thing in the morning, sitting at the table that Mark was supposed to save for his daughter’s third birthday?

This is a standoff. And Mark is in over his head.
But Edmund is more than just a human wrench in Mark’s plans. He’s got his own struggles too and they are more connected to Mark than he could have ever guessed.

Why tell this story now?
Have you been on the internet or outside and seen how humans have been interacting lately? We’re a mess.

This film suggests that strangers who seem to be at odds with us could have a lot more going on than we realize. If a film could help you see others through this lens, even just for the hour after you saw it, I’d say that’s our why.
Who are we?

We’ve got a dreamy group of people working together on this project. Click over to the "Team" tab to find out more about everybody.
And this director, what's her deal?
Hi. I’m Tricia. I’m a writer and, with your support, a soon to be first time director. I started out performing and writing plays in NYC, where I also got very into the improv comedy world. And worked at a macrobiotic restaurant. It was all very early 2000’s. Anyway, through improv I got to meet many talented collaborators, a few excellent forever friends and one husband. After writing and performing some more comedy here in LA, I wrote on a TV show for a while, had a couple kids and then spent the last few years doing punch up and rewrites for comedy feature scripts. My most favorite film experience has been pitching jokes on set for other directors and now I am very excited about making my own directorial debut with this short. Crowdfunding is a huge gift that will allow me to make something in my voice and with my own sensibility- which I would describe as: funny, embarrassing and heartfelt.
What are the numbers?

Okay so you shoot it, then what?
Once post production is completed, we're thoughtfully submitting to festivals with the support and expertise of our producers to guide us in the right direction.
And while this film tells a complete story as a short, there’s a feature version where we find out much more about these characters and expand the world of Like It Enough To Stay. With your support, this short will serve as a Proof of Concept to help get a feature length version get made.
