The Story
Meet Terryn Carter, a shy but spirited twelve-year-old singer-songwriter from Wilmington, Delaware. Music is her way of expressing herself; her songs are where she feels comfortable to have fun freely. Peter is her equally ambitious and supportive father. He strives to be Terryn’s biggest cheerleader and instill important values in her while also being an example of hard work and determination.
Terryn’s goal is to make it into her middle school’s variety show following a rejection the previous year. After being discouraged and called a “weirdo” by her peers, she doubts if she has what it takes yet again. She must overcome her fear of “last time” and push past her classmates’ criticism to write a new song and audition with confidence. After a series of personal and professional losses, Peter’s objective is to get back on his feet and do what it takes to provide for his family.

We are here to uplift, encourage, and inspire while having fun at the same time! This is a film for the entire family. You are never too young or too old to go after your heart’s desire and believe in yourself. But, it’s more than that. While you believe, you still have to put action behind your efforts and work hard. With this film, we hope to ignite possibility and passion in your hearts to go out and do the same.
If you’ve ever seen the 2000s Nickelodeon show, As Told By Ginger or Netflix’s newly released Karma’s World, you have a pretty good idea of the vibe of our film. Both shows feature girls around Terryn’s age exploring life and figuring things out; both are fun and have a positive message. If you’ve never seen them, no worries, but we recommend checking them out if you want another good watch!
From Janae: “Well, Terryn is kind of me. I sang, rapped, and wrote songs in middle school and aspired to create a CD and perform in my school's variety show, just like her. My songs were a little quirky, and sometimes, people called them (and me) weird. Like Terryn, I had parents who believed in and supported me; I am so grateful for that! I absolutely would not have been able to do it without them. I wrote the song “Limitless” in 2014, and ever since, it has been a principle that I value and carry with me through each of my creative pursuits. This story is close to my heart, and I am so excited to share it with you!”

About This Team
Janae is a screenwriter, producer, and fitness instructor from Delaware. She believes that each of us were created on purpose for a purpose. Her purpose, she has discovered, is to inspire and motivate others through the work she create. As a storyteller, her goal is to portray diverse characters existing and thriving in all areas of life. She strives to tell stories that challenge, ignite passion, and spark curiosity in readers of all ages. Janae is the creator, director, and executive producer of the film. She is so excited to bring her vision to life on screen along with her amazing cast and crew!
Tila is a PharmD Candidate 2023 currently living in Chicago, IL. She is also a talented content creator. She and Janae have been best friends since first grade. They have worked on numerous creative projects together ranging from music creation to writing Pokémon fan fiction. Although she is busy with school, Tila was excited to join as Co-Producer for the film! We are so excited to have her on the team!
Cameron "Cam" is a professional photographer and videographer with 7 years of experience shooting portraits, commercial media, weddings, events, and more. From start to finish, he aims to provide a quality experience. He likes to keep things fun, engaging, and memorable- All while delivering beautiful eye catching results.
