The Story
Lipstick. Meet. Pig. was born out of a desire to take creative control of my career. As an actor/singer/dancer, I've spent my whole life on-stage and on-set performing someone else's lines in someone else's show. After eight years of waiting tables in New York and auditioning, I felt burnt out and unsatisfied.
I waited on tables... I waited in line at auditions... I waited for pigs to fly. I'm done waiting - which is why I decided to take matters into my own hands and write my own story. Thus, Lipstick. Meet. Pig. was born!
I knew that I wanted to tell stories about morally ambiguous characters that explore the depths of the human condition. L.M.P. is inspired by my experience working in the service industry and the many fascinating characters I’ve met. This feminist dark comedy tackles wealth disparity, gender power dynamics, and what one is willing to sacrifice to achieve their dreams.
The Mission
At its core, Lipstick. Meet. Pig. is about a woman struggling to achieve her dreams and realize her full potential as a person and artist. Her desperation pushes her to explore the boundaries of feminism, parameters of equality, and edges of equity. Battling between timidity and tenacity, she might just discover who she really is. Lipstick. Meet. Pig. is a universal story: Dreams are expensive - how much are you willing to pay?
Why Now?
At a time when DEI is being attacked, women's stories, especially in the workforce, are more important than ever. Sexism and misogyny are openly on the rise and women face scrutiny no matter what choice we make. Lipstick. Meet. Pig. is not only a commentary on the times, but an act of defiance.
Plus, our team of producers is incredibly diverse - with 9 of the 12 being women. Both the writers and co-directors are of the AAPI community, with Olivia being part-Filipina and Isaac being part-Japanese. We have producers representing multiple ethnicities and the cast & creative crew will also be diverse and inclusive.
