Mission Statement

Lizzy Sunshine exists to MAKE YOU LAUGH while also normalizing conversations about addiction and the families it touches. She keeps the show going when everything falls apart... sound familiar? Next: a filmed special and TV/film adaptation.

The Story

Hello Sunshine! It's me, Lizzy!

When her partner doesn’t show, Lizzy Sunshine makes the audience her co-star. She promised a two-person show. She got... you.

Liz Coin charms in this this fast-paced hour packed with gags gone wrong, big characters, and a performer who believes positivity can solve anything — whether it should or not.

Audiences and critics are raving:

"You just have to see it"

"A smart piece of theater masquerading as a clown show"

"Relentlessly optimistic, positively brilliant"

"Coin is a master of comedy and audience engagement"

"How does one person have that much energy"

"I'll be thinking about this one for awhile"

One woman. One missing co-star. One very involved audience.

“A chaotic, feel-good spectacle with something real just beneath the surface”

You will sing along. You might end up onstage. You will definitely be part of something you didn’t see coming.

What starts as a hilarious, chaotic scramble slowly becomes something else entirely. Beneath all that sunshine, there’s a real reason her co-star is missing. And when the show finally goes there, the room goes with it.

Why People Can’t Stop Talking About It

"You're in the show, you're all in the show!" is one of the first lines in the entire piece (#spoilers). This show is a farce, a bit of a beast, and different every time with a surprise ending that leaves people emotional. It's the show that leaves people saying, "you just have to see it."

The emotional core of this show deals with living close to addiction. Womp womp. Nearly everyone you meet has an addict close to home, but we don't really talk about it. I, personally, kept it a secret for most of my life because there is shame surrounding it. It wasn't until doing this show, speaking out, and connecting with people that I learned I am not alone. I am so not alone it's crazy. A core memory is a man coming up to me after the show and saying "I'm Mikey Sunshine, this is my story too."

I did an episode on The Recovery Show and 15+ people from 7 different US states reached out asking me to bring this show to their town because they resonated with my story so much.

TLDR; people want shows that spark conversation

(like this!) in their communities.

That’s why it’s sold out Off-Broadway at Soho Playhouse, at The Den in Chicago, earned four separate five-star reviews at Edinburgh Fringe, and been featured in The Times (UK), Broadway World, and the British Comedy Guide. Audiences don’t just enjoy it — they tell everyone they know and follow along to see what's next for Little Miss Lizzy Sunshine.

We're spreading sunshine everywhere we go!

At least 80% of our goal must be reached to keep the funds that are raised. WE CAN DO IT!

You might cry. You will laugh. And you will absolutely be part of it.

The Artist

(it's me, I'm typing all of this)

Liz Coin is a NYC-based comedian, actor, and improviser originally from Bettendorf, Iowa (represent!!) A Northwestern grad and Second City alumna, she’s appeared on NBC, Prime Video, and tours nationally as emcee for Broadway’s Next Hit Musical. She also teaches improv in rehabilitation centers because she believes laughter is the best medicine and also that all humans need improv. You know, core belief stuff.

Lizzy Sunshine was born from Liz’s own family experience with addiction and her belief that honest storytelling and real joy can share the same stage.

There is no back up, no grad school, no day job, no day but today guys -

THIS IS IT.

I am going to (continue) to do whatever it takes to launch this show and myself so that it's a career and we have sold out shows, a special, actually-paid crew members, you get it.

Where Your Money Goes

Every dollar goes directly to getting this show in front of more people:

  • Venue rentals & tech production for upcoming runs at The Mettlesome Theatre (North Carolina), Soho Playhouse, London, and Edinburgh Fringe (one-month run, summer 2026),
  • Marketing & PR to build audiences beyond the NYC/Edinburgh base
  • Travel & lodging for the artist and #1 team
  • Production essentials — set pieces, props, confetti cannons, bubble wands, and those signature rose-colored glasses tucked under every seat

If you like my social media videos, THANK YOU! Keep watching! Sadly I earn $0 from them so if you can send me $5 I'll keep making more things for you to laugh at.

I Can't Do It Alone:

Makena Reynolds (Director) received a directing certificate from Yale Drama through their Summer Session, and her BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Utah. Makena is the book writer for Jinx: The Musical AND The Emily Dickinson Musical which is currently being workshopped in New York. She is passionate about work that sparks social change. @makreyn

Ron Weiss (US Producer) is an international director, actor, producer, and creative researcher. Their work is not defined by a medium, but rather by an intention to explore new opportunities for storytelling in the theatre. Select Producing Credits: Nine Cavities (David Heiser and Eric Canfield), The Sound of Water (Ed Fringe 25), ES Tech: A Solo Immersive Experience, The Occupation Project: Plays from Ukraine (historic Jaffa Theatre). Ron holds a BFA in directing from UNCSA Drama where they assisted Ashley Robinson, Claire Fort, and Lo Feliciani Ojeda. @theronweiss

Lauren Herd (UK Producer) is a producer, director, and champion of the theatre. She produced the award-winning sold-out run of Penelope Quadrangle and the Meaning of Friendship (2025) at Edinburgh Fringe. From producing musicals (Bridges of Madison County, 2025; The Last Five Years, 2026), to original works (Negotiating with the Dead, 2024; Doggerel, 2024; A Profession of Faith, 2024), to stand-up shows (What is Going On?, 2024), to pre-existing pieces (Shakespeare’s Sister, 2023), Lauren has ingrained herself in the theatre world. She has also paved the way for festivals celebrating both theatre (Downing College Festival of New Writing, 2024) and film (Downing College Short Film Festival, 2023). This foray into film continued in her Executive Producer role for The Golden God (2025), an award-winning feature-length mockumentary. She has most recently served as Executive Producer for Frankie Keller’s upcoming music video, Sick Love (2026).

Why Right Now?

Lizzy Sunshine is at a tipping point. Liz's growing following and commercial visibility, the Edinburgh buzz, the Off-Broadway credibility, the international press — it’s allllllll happening. After our last show at The Den in Chicago, the team there said "this needs to be filmed as a special." SO!!! Independent theater like this doesn’t scale itself and Liz doesn't have backup funds to make this happen alone. In fact Liz (me, hey) is scared to ask for money because it feels icky and she always tries to handle things on her own (it's almost like this show is about her real life?)

The goal of this Seed & Spark campaign is to bridge the gap between critical acclaim and financial sustainability, so Liz can keep doing what she does: making rooms full of strangers feel like they’re all on the same team. Cuz we are. Promise.
