The Story
There are stories in every culture.

Stories of people who searched the lands that had not yet been crossed. Stories of people who met people from other lands. Sounds we have never heard. Places we had not yet experienced. Across continents and generations, people have passed these encounters down not as entertainment, but as memory.
Loss of the Creature is an international documentary series exploring the intersection of culture, fear, and belief through modern adventure around the European landscape. Each episode travels to a different region, immersing viewers in the communities, landscapes, and histories that gave birth to these myths, asking why these stories continue to survive in an age obsessed with proof.
But this series is not about tourism or showing you the places you’ve seen, but rather understanding what we have not witnessed.
At its core, Loss of the Creature examines what disappears when mystery is revealed. As technology maps every corner of the world and algorithms flatten culture into content, ancient stories that once connected people to nature, ancestry, and the unknown are slowly fading. The creatures themselves become reflections of colonization, environmental destruction, spiritual loss, and cultural memory.
By blending cinematic documentary filmmaking with adventure, anthropology, philosophy, and immersive travel storytelling - we will create an atmospheric and emotionally grounded eight-episode limited series while creating the pursuit of wonder.
It is a call to action. We strive to not just experience content from our devices, but experience these places authentically - beyond tourism. We hope to inspire people to plan trips not just for the sake of travel, but experiencing rather than a fantasy of doing the thing.
Initiated by Myles McClain, Ripper, and produced by lovejoy stories - Loss Of The Creature will strive to achieve every goal set out in bringing the countries explored to viewers across the world!
We are currently raising funds for the development through post-production phase of the series, including:

- Travel & Accommodations
- Archival Licensing
- Story & Motion Picture Rights
- Screen Scoring
- Local Collaborators And Translators
- Distribution Grant Applications [For Festivals, Pitches, And Marketing]

About This Team
Myles McClain (Director, Director of Photography)
Myles McClain is a twenty-year-old documentary filmmaker based in New York City, studying at NYU Tisch School Of The Arts Film Program. As the director of Loss of the Creature, he is deeply humbled and excited to try and truly capture the experience of going on an adventure.
Ripper (Director Of Photography, Colorist)
Photographer and filmmaker, Ripper will be helping shoot and feature in Loss of the Creature, alongside Myles. He hopes to authentically capture new experiences and share them with you.
Khayta (Lead Producer)
Khayta Diongue is a twenty-year-old filmmaker based in New York City with an emphasis on writing, producing, and directing. As the producer of Loss Of The Creature, Khayta aims to bring a heartfelt, relatable story to completion through visual, music, movement, sound, and adventure. She is set to produce episodes 1, 6, and 7. (Don't make the joke rahhh.)
Lara Choo (Co-Producer)
Lara Choo is a twenty-year-old filmmaker from Singapore and Canada, currently based in New York City, pursuing a BFA in Film & Television Production at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. As a co-producer on Loss Of The Creature, she hopes to bring people together by creating work that evokes deep, honest, and raw human emotions. She is set to produce episode 8.
Stephanie Marie Aguinaldo (Co-Producer)
Stephanie is excited to work on LOTC with so many brilliant fellow filmmakers and artists. Whether it's research, sponsorships, or creating campaigns - Stephanie cannot wait to showcase how amazing and captivating Loss Of The Creature is as the lead producer of episode 3.
Mak Kustric (Associate Producer)
Mak Kustric is an international student from Bosnia and Herzegovina and a junior at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, studying Cinema Studies with a minor in Producing and Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. He has worked on the award-winning music documentary Skroz Sarajevo and has experience working on multiple international film festivals. He currently resides in New York City and is set to produce episode 5.
Kaki Boykin (Associate Producer)
Kaki Boykin is an award-winning writer, director, and producer studying film and television at NYU. With the goal of becoming a showrunner, she is very story-oriented and brings her multidisciplinary strengths to every project she works on. She is set to produce episode 4.
Maisha McClain (Associate Producer)
Maisha is a mother of three, including Myles. As an associate producer on the project - she will be working closely with Myles and the producing team to bring the story to life in its fullest form. She helps navigate story structure, organization, and pre-production within the project as a valuable asset to the team, currently set to produce content in the later half of the season.
