"Sex & the City if Carrie Bradshaw had been queer, anxiety-ridden and living in Los Angeles." Love You, Bi is a dark comedy about dating, anxiety, and the chaos of figuring yourself out in your 30's told through the lens of one very honest podcast.

Mission Statement

Female and queer voices are still fighting to be seen, funded and taken seriously. Your support helps stories like this take up space in the world! If you’ve ever spiraled over an unanswered text, overshared publicly or wondered if you’re sabotaging your own love life: this series is for you.

The Story

Love You, Bi follows Mel, a woman in her mid-30's navigating the queer dating scene in sunny but lonely Los Angeles. It highlights myriad zany characters not excluding Mel herself, who is often riddled with anxiety and trying to cope in all the wrong ways– including sharing her dating journey publicly on her podcast, Love You, Bi. The podcast helps her navigate the question: “Can I give up control and actually enjoy a romantic relationship?”

The Anxious Podcaster

Mel - Whatever “put together” looks like, slightly uptight. Can she give up control to actually enjoy dating and find a partner?

The Confidantes

Anton - Mel's best friend. Sweet but not saccharine. Grounded in his convictions but can lean dramatic; he is a working actor after all.

Christine - Mel's older sister. Provides a reality check when Mel becomes too engrossed in LA drama. Can run a half marathon without training.

The Dates

Fiona -  All she wants is a fellow adrenaline junkie to spend her life with. Unironically uses the IG caption: "I did a thing!"

Alex - Always on the prowl for a third. Has nose ring and the personality traits that come along with it.

Quinn - They make new friends everywhere they go. Main objective is to save all the palm trees in LA from becoming extinct.

Wayne - 53% chest, 31% arms and 16% brains. Moved to LA to model but still working as a personal trainer 8 years later- somehow not bitter about it.

Frankie - Pouty lips and the illusion of elegance. Irresistible. Treats her exes like collectibles she keeps on a shelf.

Ali - Usually wearing a suit, except maybe to bed. Longs for a partner but can't seem to meet her match. Generous and sweet but comes off cold to the naked eye.

The Saboteurs:

Scorpio - "too old to care about pronouns", always sporting an iridescent onesie. Impatient and explosive. Pushes boundaries with his best-looking students.

Toni - A Dollar Tree Janis Joplin with frizzy locks. Loyal to a fault. Postures as a hippie but waits in line every time a new iPhone drops.

Heaven the Barista - Will read you to filth then make you the best oat latte you've ever had in your life.

Female and queer voices are still fighting to be seen, funded and taken seriously. Your support helps stories like this take up space in the world! Every contribution helps prove that queer stories (especially ones that handle mental health issues with humor) deserve to be seen.

About This Team

MICHELLE LUPO, CREATOR, CAST

Michelle Lupo (she/her) is a bicoastal creative and sales/marketing professional who prioritizes quality relationships over clout. With degrees from Parsons School of Design and Purdue University and an acting certification from William Esper Studio, Michelle strives to blend her creative and business skills to cultivate safe environments for women and queer people to story-tell. Love You, Bi will be her debut project.

KENDALL PAYNE, DIRECTOR

Kendall Alex Payne (she/her) is a Los Angeles–based lesbian filmmaker and retired stand-up comedian who has been telling messy, non-traditional queer stories through comedic short films, sketches, music videos, web series, and original pilot and feature scripts for over 10 years. Her recent short film “Dead End” premiered at Outfest Next! in Los Angeles. Her other short “Riis” premiered at NewFest in Brooklyn. Both “Dead End” and “Riis” also screened at Bushwick Film Festival. Dead End was awarded the Jury Award for Best Short Film at ImageOut Fest, and Riis was voted Festival Favorite and Director’s Choice at the Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival. Her earlier work “Dealing” premiered at NewFest, and her short film/pilot “Fuck Nice Guys” was nominated for Best Web Series/TV Pilot and earned her a Best Director nomination at Indie Short Fest. Beyond her narrative work, Kendall writes and directs commercials and branded content for brands like Hilton, Netflix, Apple TV, Prime Video, and Subway, bringing her irreverent sense of humor to global campaigns.

BEC BAEHLER, DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Born and raised in LA, Rebecca (Bec, she/her) began her career in production for Amblin Entertainment. A fascination with the complexities required for powerful imagery drew her to cinematography and a long relationship with John Stanier, BSC. Her apprenticeship as Stainer's assistant on hundreds of commercials shot on film continued to polish her technique and create a depth and richness on digital seldom seen. Mark Coppos provided her first break as Director of Photography (DP) in 1998 for Levis. This began an almost 25 year career as one of the leading cinematographers and directors on the commercial scene, during which she has been responsible for photographing and directing a lengthy string of global award-winning campaigns like Apple and more. Her most recent feature, Amy Landecker's "For Worse" premiered at SXSW and will be released theatrically on February 27, 2026.

EDDIE LIU, CAST

Eddie (he/him) is an LA-based actor from Long Island, New York - which he can still pronounce as "lawn guylin" when he needs to prove it. His single cam comedy-style friendship with Michelle began when they met while studying acting at the William Esper Studio in NYC. Since then Eddie has worked in television, film, theater, and commercials. He is best known for his TV roles on Kung Fu and Never Have I Ever.

LAURA SCHEIN, CAST

Actor/writer/lyricist Laura Schein is a 2026 Dramatists Guild Fellow and recipient of the 2023 ASCAP Foundation Lucille and Jack Yellen Award.
