The Story
Autumn, a despondent woman in her late twenties who lost her passion, helps a little girl build a stick house. As the little girl gets curious about Autumn's sadness we take a glimpse into her past.
She reminisces about her relationship with her girlfriend and how trying to make ends meet has deteriorated their relationship and slowly made her lose herself.
After years of tears, and frustration, the bond shared between Autumn and the little girl reminds Autumn of the person she used to be and what made her passionate.
By the end of 2019, I had to take a break from pursuing my master's from New York Film Academy, in Los Angeles due to financial difficulties. I ended up moving to New York, working crazy hours that kept me busy for most of the day, but this overwhelmingly deep-rooted feeling of loneliness would take over every night. One day, while commuting I was looking through old pictures on my phone and I stopped and stared at one of them where I was around 5-6yrs old, sitting by myself smiling at the camera and I wondered if that girl would be proud of who I am today, at that moment I made the promise to my younger self that I would gather myself and make her proud.
This film is an ode to all our younger selves, Loving Autumn, the story of Autumn, a passionate to-be architect, who has to confront her past decisions while having a conversation with her younger self.
Loving Autumn was supposed to be my thesis film, but it had to pushed be back due to COVID-19, and lack of funds. I recently graduated, and this would be my very first film outside of school. This is why I need your help to make it happen. It's such a personal and deep story, and hopefully relatable to all of the dreamers out there that had to push back their goals.
- Autumn: 28 years old woman who used to be a very passionate and talented artist. A little reckless, extrovert, sweet, and caring. With all of her goals set, she moved to California at the age of 21 with her girlfriend Mila, to pursue her architecture degree. But a few years later, still in school things got financially complicated.
She made decisions she thought were the best for them as a couple, leaving her priorities and dreams to the side. As the years pass Autumn lost herself and who she was, living a life she didn't want to. Autumn will be played by Chilean actress Vivianne Dietz.
- Little girl: 8 years old. She appears in Autumn's life like a hurricane, forcing Autumn to confront all of the questions she has been avoiding for so many years. Little girl comes to remind Autumn who she is, opening her eyes and giving her the strength she needs to rebuild her life. She is creative, hyperenergetic, talkative, curious, smart, sensitive, sweet, and adventurous. Little girl is always doing something, creating a new world in her head.
- Mila: 30 years old driving, hard-working, and an extroverted tattoo artist. 100% committed to the people she loves and things she is passionate about. She is very calm and patient but tends to bottle up her emotions until exploding. Mila is overall happy with her life, but her relationship with Autumn is at risk. She knows Autumn must take control of her life, and follow her own dream, even if it means she has to take a step aside.
The look of the film combines the warm and cold colors from the autumn season to represent the emotions and struggles this movie explores: Love for others v/s Lack of self-love. Passion v/s Practical. Reconnections v/s Separation
The contrast of these colors mixes perfectly the battle Autumn has with herself. Warm colors will represent the exterior while the clothes and more personal belongings will bring a grey-ish color representing the numbness she feels inside. While for Mila a passionate and driven woman will mix warm colors with black showing her tough exterior contrasting with her soft interior. For the little girl, bright colors will represent her dreams, imagination, and curiosity for life.
We have as Osha certified Covid Officer, everyone on set is fully vaccinated. We intend on getting one big house preferrably with a backyard to have a basecamp set outside. Since it's an intimate story we will be keeping the crew to an utmost minimum with on the hot set. Our cast will be under isolatation for the week before we start filming, and each personnel will be tested before stepping onto the set.
We have a minor on board which makes things tad bit expensive and we want to provide them a safe environment with sanitation as a priority.

Autumn (28) una mujer abatida que perdió su pasión, ayuda a una optimista niña a construir un casa de palitos de madera. A medida que la curiosidad de la niña por conocer a Autumn crece, también aumenta la tristeza de Autumn que nos permite ver un poco de su pasado.
Autumn recuerda la relación que tenía con su novia, y como ésta poco a poco se fue deteriorando luego de que sus prioridades solo se centraran en una vida económicamente estable, lo que la llevó a dejar su amor por la arquitectura atrás.
Después de años de lágrimas y frustración, el vinculo generado entre la niña y Autumn le recuerda de la persona que solía ser y lo que realmente le apasiona.
A fines de 2019, debido a dificultades económicas tuve que congelar por un semestre mi maestría en cine que estaba estudiando en New York Film Academy, sede en Los Angeles, y me fui a trabajar a New York. Mis horas y días de trabajo eran tantos que no tenía tiempo para casi nada. Todas las noches el sentimiento de soledad que tenía tan arraigado se apoderaba de mi. Un día, mientras viajaba en tren, estaba mirando fotos antiguas en mi teléfono y encontré una mía cuando tenía alrededor de 5-6 años, sentada sola sonriendo a la cámara y me pregunté si esa niña estaría orgullosa de quién soy ahora. En ese momento le hice la promesa a mi yo más chica de que saldría adelante y la haría sentir orgullosa.
Este cortometraje es una oda a nuestro niño interior. Loving Autumn, la historia de Autumn, una apasionada futura arquitecta, que tiene que confrontar sus decisiones pasadas mientras conversa con su yo más joven.
Se suponía que Loving Autumn sería mi tesis, pero la tuvimos que retrasar debido al COVID-19 y la falta de fondos. Me gradué recientemente y este sería mi primer cortometraje fuera de la escuela, completamente independiente. Por eso necesito de su ayuda para realizarlo. Es una historia tan personal y potente, que sé que va conectar con muchas personas, en especial con los soñadores que tuvieron que posponer sus sueños.

Con todas sus metas muy claras, se mudo a California con su novia Mila para conseguir su título universitario en arquitectura. Pero luego de un par de años estudiando las cosas se volvieron complicadas económicamente. Ella tomó la decisión de dejar la universidad creyendo que esa era la mejor opción para la relación, pero al hacer esto también dejó sus prioridades y sueños de lado creyendo que no le afectaría. A medida que los años pasan, Autumn se perdió a
sí misma y quién solía ser, viviendo una vida que no quería.
Autumn será interpretada por la actriz chilena Vivianne Dietz. - Little girl: 8 años. Ella aparece en la vida de Autumn como un huracán, forzándola a confrontar todas las preguntas que ha estado evitando por tantos años. La niña viene a recordarle a Autumn quien es ella, abriéndole los ojos y dándole la fuerza que necesita para reconstruir su vida. Es muy calmada y paciente pero tiende a guardar sus emociones hasta que explota. Mila está, dentro de todo, feliz con su vida pero la relación con Autumn está en riesgo. Ella sabe que Autumn tiene que tomar el control de su vida y seguir su sueño, incluso si eso significa tener que dar un paso al costado.
El aspecto visual del cortometraje combina los colores cálidos y fríos de la temporada de otoño para representar las emociones y las luchas que explora esta historia: Amor por los demás v/s falta de amor propio. Pasión v/s Práctica. Reconexión v/s Separación.
El contraste de estos colores mezcla a la perfección la batalla que Autumn tiene consigo misma. Los colores cálidos representarán el exterior, mientras que la ropa y las pertenencias más personales traerán un color grisáceo que manifestará el entumecimiento que siente por dentro. Tenemos a un Oficial Covid certificado por Osha, todos en el set estarán completamente vacunados. Tenemos la intención de conseguir una casa grande preferiblemente con un patio trasero para tener una estación base afuera. Dado que es una historia íntima, mantendremos el crew al mínimo al minuto de grabar. Nuestro elenco estará aislado durante la semana previade que comencemos a filmar, y cada miembro del personal será testeado antes de participar en el set.
Tenemos una menor a bordo, lo que hace que las cosas sean un poco más costosas y queremos brindarle un entorno seguro, priorizando la sanitización de los espacios.

About This Team
Me, Fernanda Belmar, the Writer-Director. In 2014 I started my bachelor's degree in Digital Audiovisual Communication. Every semester we had a different focus of study, from TV to film. It's in the last one where I found my passion that I didn't know I had. From the first moment, we had to create a script to make a short film I fell in love with the process, and how incredible it felt to put what was on my mind on the screen. As soon as my very first and really bad short film was made, I decided to pursue a filmmaking degree. In 2018 I moved to L.A. from Chile to start my Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking at New York Film Academy.
In my first semester, I was paired up with other 3 classmates to make our semester one film. Amy Nigro was a part of the group and in my film, she was supposed to be my 1st AC, but the DP I chose for this project brought Eunicet Pamela to be his 1st. AC, so Amy ended up being my 1st. AD.
Amy turned out to be an incredible 1st. AD, extremely organized and creative. We connected and communicated on set perfectly, so much so that she has been my 1st. AD for every single project I have done, including Loving Autumn. Besides working so well together on set she is one of my best friends.
Going back to my semester one film I mentioned Eunicet Pamela, who I met through the DP in that project, both of them were MFA Cinematography students. I was impressed by how professional Pamela was, and how she would advise me throughout the production. We also had a strong connection which made Pamela ask me to be the director for her intermediate film. We worked so well and understood each other at such a level that Pamela has been my DP since that moment.
The story of how I met my producer, Mitali Khare is different. I was on set for one of her classmate's intermediate films, she was the 2nd. AD in that project. I remember looking at her during the production looking so serious and professional that I thought about asking her if she has been a producer before. She told me yes, so I told her about my intermediate film idea and we scheduled a meeting. It was one of the best and boldest moves I have done in my life, and I would do it all over again.
In my intermediate film Undocumented, Mitali, Amy, Pamela, and I worked for the first time all together and it was such an incredible experience. We communicate in such a way that sometimes words weren't even necessary. Mitali and Amy did a spectacular job with the production and they let me direct from the very beginning keeping me out of any problem we had so I was focused all the time on making the film. The communication I had with Pamela made the film turn out to be everything that I had pictured on my head and better.
My story with Alyssa started after my intermediate film. I met her on a set of a music video for a Colombian Musician, we barely talked that day considering our departments barely interacted. After that we kept meeting through Mitali and we became friends, she told me the first time she saw me I was scary, and I was the kind of person you don't want to mess with... I still don't understand why? I'm pretty chill.
The amount of respect, and love I have for my team it's on another level. I trust them with everything I have and they trust me. Every time we are working on each other's projects we make them our own, just like with Loving Autumn, this film is not just mine, it's ours.

Yo, Fernanda Belmar, soy la escritora y directora de Loving Autumn. En 2014 inicié mi licenciatura en Comunicación Audiovisual Digital. Cada semestre teníamos un enfoque de estudio diferente, desde la televisión hasta el cine. Es en el último donde encontré mi pasión por éste arte. Desde la primera vez que tuvimos que crear un guión para hacer un cortometraje me enamoré del proceso, y de lo increíble que se sintió llevar a la pantalla lo que tenía en mente. Tan pronto como hice mi primer cortometraje (era malo), decidí hacer un post-grado en cine. En 2018 me mudé desde Chile a Los Angeles, California para comenzar mi Maestría de Bellas Artes en Cine en New York Film Academy.
En mi primer semestre tuve que formar grupo con otros 3 compañeros de clase para hacer un cortometraje cada uno. Amy Nigro era parte del grupo y en mi corto se suponía que ella iba a ser la primera asistende de cámara, pero el director de fotografía que elegí para este proyecto trajo a Eunicet Pamela a cubrir este rol, así que Amy terminó siendo la primera asistente de dirección (1st. AD).
Amy resultó ser una increíble 1st. AD, extremadamente organizada y creativa. Nos conectamos y comunicamos perfectamente en el set, tanto así que ella ha sido la 1st. AD de todos los otros proyectos que he realizado, incluido Loving Autumn. Además de trabajar tan bien juntas en el set, Amy es una de mis mejores amigas.

La historia de cómo conocí a la productora, Mitali Khare, es diferente. Estaba en el set de una de los cortometrajes intermedios de su compañero de clase, ella era la segunda asistende de dirección (2nd. AD) en ese proyecto. Recuerdo que la miré durante la producción con un aspecto tan serio y profesional que pensé en preguntarle si había sido productora antes. Ella me dijo que sí, así que le hablé de mi idea del cortometraje Undocumented y programamos una reunión. Acercarme a ella ese día ha sido uno de las mejores cosas que he hecho en mi vida.
En el cortometraje Udocumented, Mitali, Amy, Pamela y yo trabajamos por primera vez todas juntas y fue una experiencia maravillosa. Nos comunicamos de una forma que a veces las palabras ni siquiera eran necesarias. Mitali y Amy hicieron un trabajo espectacular con la producción y se preocuparon que yo estuviera todo el tiempo enfocada solamente en dirigir, manteniéndome fuera de cualquier problema que tuviéramos. La comunicación que tuve con Pamela hizo que el cortometraje fuera todo lo que había imaginado en mi cabeza y mejor.
Mi historia con Alyssa comenzó después de aquel cortometraje. La conocí en el set de un video musical para una cantante colombiana. Ese día no hablamos practicamente nada considerando que nuestros departamentos apenas interactuaban. Después de eso, nos seguimos reuniendo a través de Mitali y nos hicimos amigas, ella me dijo que la primera vez que me vió le dí miedo porque era el tipo de persona con la que no te quieres meter en problemas... todavía no entiendo por qué? Soy bastante relajada y buena onda en la vida real.
La cantidad de respeto y amor que tengo por mi equipo está en otro nivel. Les confío todo lo que tengo y ellas confían en mí. Cada vez que estamos trabajando en los proyectos de la otra, los hacemos nuestros, al igual que con Loving Autumn, esta película no es solo mía, es de todas nosotras, y ahora, de ustedes también.

Tenemos la intención de conseguir una casa grande preferiblemente con un patio trasero para tener una estación base afuera. Dado que es una historia íntima, mantendremos el crew al mínimo al minuto de grabar. Nuestro elenco estará aislado durante la semana previade que comencemos a filmar, y cada miembro del personal será testeado antes de participar en el set.
Tenemos una menor a bordo, lo que hace que las cosas sean un poco más costosas y queremos brindarle un entorno seguro, priorizando la sanitización de los espacios.

About This Team
Me, Fernanda Belmar, the Writer-Director. In 2014 I started my bachelor's degree in Digital Audiovisual Communication. Every semester we had a different focus of study, from TV to film. It's in the last one where I found my passion that I didn't know I had. From the first moment, we had to create a script to make a short film I fell in love with the process, and how incredible it felt to put what was on my mind on the screen. As soon as my very first and really bad short film was made, I decided to pursue a filmmaking degree. In 2018 I moved to L.A. from Chile to start my Master of Fine Arts in Filmmaking at New York Film Academy.
In my first semester, I was paired up with other 3 classmates to make our semester one film. Amy Nigro was a part of the group and in my film, she was supposed to be my 1st AC, but the DP I chose for this project brought Eunicet Pamela to be his 1st. AC, so Amy ended up being my 1st. AD.
Amy turned out to be an incredible 1st. AD, extremely organized and creative. We connected and communicated on set perfectly, so much so that she has been my 1st. AD for every single project I have done, including Loving Autumn. Besides working so well together on set she is one of my best friends.
Going back to my semester one film I mentioned Eunicet Pamela, who I met through the DP in that project, both of them were MFA Cinematography students. I was impressed by how professional Pamela was, and how she would advise me throughout the production. We also had a strong connection which made Pamela ask me to be the director for her intermediate film. We worked so well and understood each other at such a level that Pamela has been my DP since that moment.
The story of how I met my producer, Mitali Khare is different. I was on set for one of her classmate's intermediate films, she was the 2nd. AD in that project. I remember looking at her during the production looking so serious and professional that I thought about asking her if she has been a producer before. She told me yes, so I told her about my intermediate film idea and we scheduled a meeting. It was one of the best and boldest moves I have done in my life, and I would do it all over again.
In my intermediate film Undocumented, Mitali, Amy, Pamela, and I worked for the first time all together and it was such an incredible experience. We communicate in such a way that sometimes words weren't even necessary. Mitali and Amy did a spectacular job with the production and they let me direct from the very beginning keeping me out of any problem we had so I was focused all the time on making the film. The communication I had with Pamela made the film turn out to be everything that I had pictured on my head and better.
My story with Alyssa started after my intermediate film. I met her on a set of a music video for a Colombian Musician, we barely talked that day considering our departments barely interacted. After that we kept meeting through Mitali and we became friends, she told me the first time she saw me I was scary, and I was the kind of person you don't want to mess with... I still don't understand why? I'm pretty chill.
The amount of respect, and love I have for my team it's on another level. I trust them with everything I have and they trust me. Every time we are working on each other's projects we make them our own, just like with Loving Autumn, this film is not just mine, it's ours.

Yo, Fernanda Belmar, soy la escritora y directora de Loving Autumn. En 2014 inicié mi licenciatura en Comunicación Audiovisual Digital. Cada semestre teníamos un enfoque de estudio diferente, desde la televisión hasta el cine. Es en el último donde encontré mi pasión por éste arte. Desde la primera vez que tuvimos que crear un guión para hacer un cortometraje me enamoré del proceso, y de lo increíble que se sintió llevar a la pantalla lo que tenía en mente. Tan pronto como hice mi primer cortometraje (era malo), decidí hacer un post-grado en cine. En 2018 me mudé desde Chile a Los Angeles, California para comenzar mi Maestría de Bellas Artes en Cine en New York Film Academy.
En mi primer semestre tuve que formar grupo con otros 3 compañeros de clase para hacer un cortometraje cada uno. Amy Nigro era parte del grupo y en mi corto se suponía que ella iba a ser la primera asistende de cámara, pero el director de fotografía que elegí para este proyecto trajo a Eunicet Pamela a cubrir este rol, así que Amy terminó siendo la primera asistente de dirección (1st. AD).
Amy resultó ser una increíble 1st. AD, extremadamente organizada y creativa. Nos conectamos y comunicamos perfectamente en el set, tanto así que ella ha sido la 1st. AD de todos los otros proyectos que he realizado, incluido Loving Autumn. Además de trabajar tan bien juntas en el set, Amy es una de mis mejores amigas.
Volviendo al cortometraje de mi primer semestre, mencioné a Eunicet Pamela, a quien conocí a través del DP en ese proyecto, ambos eran estudiantes de MFA Cinematografía. Me impresionó lo profesional que era Pamela y cómo me asesoraba durante toda la producción. También teníamos una fuerte conexión que hizo que Pamela me pidiera que fuera la directora de su cortometraje intermedio. Trabajamos tan bien y nos entendimos a tal nivel que Pamela ha sido mi DP desde ese momento.
La historia de cómo conocí a la productora, Mitali Khare, es diferente. Estaba en el set de una de los cortometrajes intermedios de su compañero de clase, ella era la segunda asistende de dirección (2nd. AD) en ese proyecto. Recuerdo que la miré durante la producción con un aspecto tan serio y profesional que pensé en preguntarle si había sido productora antes. Ella me dijo que sí, así que le hablé de mi idea del cortometraje Undocumented y programamos una reunión. Acercarme a ella ese día ha sido uno de las mejores cosas que he hecho en mi vida.
En el cortometraje Udocumented, Mitali, Amy, Pamela y yo trabajamos por primera vez todas juntas y fue una experiencia maravillosa. Nos comunicamos de una forma que a veces las palabras ni siquiera eran necesarias. Mitali y Amy hicieron un trabajo espectacular con la producción y se preocuparon que yo estuviera todo el tiempo enfocada solamente en dirigir, manteniéndome fuera de cualquier problema que tuviéramos. La comunicación que tuve con Pamela hizo que el cortometraje fuera todo lo que había imaginado en mi cabeza y mejor.
Mi historia con Alyssa comenzó después de aquel cortometraje. La conocí en el set de un video musical para una cantante colombiana. Ese día no hablamos practicamente nada considerando que nuestros departamentos apenas interactuaban. Después de eso, nos seguimos reuniendo a través de Mitali y nos hicimos amigas, ella me dijo que la primera vez que me vió le dí miedo porque era el tipo de persona con la que no te quieres meter en problemas... todavía no entiendo por qué? Soy bastante relajada y buena onda en la vida real.
La cantidad de respeto y amor que tengo por mi equipo está en otro nivel. Les confío todo lo que tengo y ellas confían en mí. Cada vez que estamos trabajando en los proyectos de la otra, los hacemos nuestros, al igual que con Loving Autumn, esta película no es solo mía, es de todas nosotras, y ahora, de ustedes también.
