Mission Statement

Our mission is to do what Robert Townsend did for The Five Heartbeats, by using satire to entertain and spark conversations about the struggles of iconic Black musicians. We will address important issues such as toxic masculinity, colorism, unfair contracts, and the excessive amount of baby oil.

The Story

A bold, hilarious biopic spoof where two high school nerds and a wannabe thug

embark on a wild quest to become the biggest R&B group ever.

In 2025, washed-up R&B singer Maddie Jackson feels overlooked on a reality show, frustrated that he doesn’t have a biopic like his iconic peers. Flashbacks to 1996 reveal the roots of Maddie's toxic masculinity, born after witnessing his father’s murder, and how he met Huey and Sean in a youth choir. Years later, as frustrated teens stuck in the hood and feeling like losers, Huey and Sean reconnect with Maddie, now a high school dropout, who reminds them of their potential as a singing group and convinces them to record a demo.

Their song becomes a local hit, but despite their growing success, they struggle with poverty, jealousy, and trust issues. With a new manager promising fame and fortune, Maddie and Huey resolve their rivalry and rebrand the group from innocent to ignorant, setting them on the path to becoming the baddest, hottest, most inspiring, and most unforgettable R&B group of all time.

MAD HOT SWEAT is the realization of my teenage dream—my answer to the question: What if I was an R&B singer in the 2000s? My love for R&B began in 2nd grade, thanks to my dad, who was in a high school singing group in the '70s. While he often boasted about their talent show wins and the hearts they stole, he believed fame would've killed him like it did his own father—Gladys Knight's first husband, and the inspiration behind “Midnight Train to Georgia.”

My dad's hot temper and inability to work well with others might have saved him from that path, but I'm grateful for that, because without it, I wouldn’t exist! Family dynamics also play a major role in MAD HOT SWEAT, as they did in my life. My dad’s strained relationship with my uncle, which was marred by ego and jealousy, took a toll when my uncle passed away before they could reconcile. These personal and emotional moments are woven into the heart of this story, despite its over-the-top comedy.

This film is a celebration of everything I love: Atlanta, the 2000s, R&B, and the comedic genius of Keenan Ivory Wayans. It's not just about music—it's about family, dreams, and the unspoken tensions that shape who we are. MAD HOT SWEAT is a reflection of me, and I’m excited to share that journey with the world. - Zae Jordan

DREAM CAST

Zae Jordan is Maddie Jackson (Bad Boy of MHS). Maddie grew up on the tough streets of Atlanta, selling crack to survive. Despite constantly teasing them, Huey and Sean were his only real friends. Maddie was the driving force behind their group and started as the lead vocalist, but he struggled with being a leader. As the group rose to fame, Maddie’s skepticism and descent into drugs and alcohol destroyed everything he fought for—literally.

Zack Fox is Huey Brown (Lead Singer of MHS). Huey was raised by his struggling single mother, who prayed for him to become a superstar. Though shy, his jealousy of Maddie's bad-boy persona pushed him to step up as the group's lead vocalist. As their fame grew, Huey’s attitude shifted, distancing himself from Maddie and Sean as he transformed into a movie star—and a complete head-ass to the two people who knew him best.

Tevin Williams aka Mandal is Sean Sweat (Breakdancer of MHS). Sean grew up being teased for his clumsiness and weight, but despite Maddie starting the group, it was Sean’s talent show performance that inspired them. As the film’s scene-stealer and the group’s secret weapon with his Omarion-like dance moves, Sean knows how to ease the tension between Maddie and Huey. His focus? Scoring a secret romance with the biggest celebrity he'll ever meet.
