The Story

We are so excited to have the talents of Lance Nichols as part of this series. Lance is internationally known for his work and we are thrilled to see what he will do with one of our lead characters, Robert Josephs.
Lance Nichols (BILL) is a New Orleans native, and a graduate of McDonogh 35 Senior High and the University of New Orleans, with a degree in Drama and Communications.
Nichols is most widely known for his role as the preacher in the 2008 Academy Award nominated film, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, and Dr. Larry Williams in the HBO series TREME. Throughout his 40 years of acting, spanning the late 70s to present day, Nichols has made nearly 200 appearances on multiple award winning and critically acclaimed television series including: CHEERS, MURDER SHE WROTE, MATLOCK, EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, HOUSE OF CARDS, INTO THE BADLANDS, THE PURGE, QUEEN OF THE SOUTH, MARTIN, 3RD ROCK FROM THE SUN, THE DREW CAREY SHOW, THE STEVE HARVEY SHOW and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. Film credits include WOODLAWN, FANTASTIC FOUR, I AM POTENTIAL, LEFT BEHIND, HOMEFRONT, CONTRABAND, THE MECHANIC, JEFF, WHO LIVES AT HOME, GREEN LANTERN, THE LAST SONG, and soon to be released SEMPER FI and CHRISTMAS ON THE RANGE.
He and wife Zardis own Lanzardis Productions and in 2016, co-produced and cast the award-winning pilot SHEPHERD, shot entirely in New Orleans, utilizing LOCAL talent both in front and behind the camera. SHEPHERD won Best Drama at the prestigious ITV Fest in 2017, and Lance Nichols won Best Actor in a Drama. The pilot was awarded a development meeting with HBO.
Noted theatre credits include DRIVING MISS DAISY with Emmy Award winner Michael Learned at Laguna Beach Playhouse, Rubicon Theatre, Alhambra Dinner Theatre, La Mirada Theatre and New Dinner Playhouse. Previous SOUTHERN REP appearances are SONG OF A MAN COMING THROUGH, THE BREACH, YELLOWMAN, and SHOTGUN. Lance recently wrapped the film PALMER with Justin Timberlake.
He is honored to share the stage with such amazing talent and is eternally grateful to his wife Zardis for her undying support and patience throughout their 39 year marriage.

23-year-old Sheena has two things on her mind: moving to New Orleans from Alexandria, LA and cracking the code to internet stardom with her motivational speaking. She has a great circle of cyber-focused friends, Ayana and Giselle, with whom she creates content. She also has her parents, Darnel and Niecey, who have been married for 23 years. She is content with life until her drug-troubled uncle, Lionel, breaches her knowledge of self when he reveals her parents are divorcing. This unlocks a memory that sends Sheena on a journey of self-discovery through the exploration of the faults of her parents and grandparents.
Niecey experiences her own self-discovery journey, as information about her life is unveiled forcing her to attempt to heal from past wounds and live in her provocative truth. Sheena’s family isn’t who she thought they were, but the family she discovers is far greater than she can ever imagine and their secrets are even more surprising. Sheena has unearthed a story that could break the internet, if she so chooses to share.

- Melanated Millennials.
- Women Ready to Confront Past Mistakes in Order to Live Comfortably in Their Modern Truth.
- Offspring Who've Discovered Mind-blowing Family Secrets.
- Those Who are Fans of Insecure, Euphoria, Atlanta, and Survivor's Remorse.

Alluring portrayal of a contemporary world like EUPHORIA blended with dramedy elements similar to INSECURE topped off with suspenseful episodic progression like SINNER.

This story is important becuase it highlights a scenario that is common yet often hushed: the flaws of our parents and how it affects their offspring. This story dissects the complexity of what it means to be a mother, daughter, and human. Most of us have past secrets that have influenced the trajectory of our lives in one way or another. Most of us strive to be better than we've been before, not allowing these choices to hinder our futures. Sometimes, this means completely doing away with our past trangressions to the point that we forget that we were the ones once committing these acts. For some of us, the birth of our children encourage us to do away with life choices that no longer serve our well being. For others, this may feel forced.
Imagine a life where you feel so ashamed of who you truly are/were, that you take on an entire alter identity, and then pereptuate this persona onto your offspring because you believe it provides a better world for them. Now, imagine this mask unexpctedly falling off in front of the very person(s) you created it for. Think about your parents... do you remember the first time you found out something about them that they may've found embarrassing, but to you it made them more human? Flawed yet intriguing. How did you feel?
As we get older we realize that motherhood isn't the key to perfection but may quite possibly be the opposite- the key to working through trials and tribulations as we cultivate another human being for the world. We often here about mothers and their sons or daughters and their fathers but it is rare that we dive into the delicate yet layered relationships between mothers and their daughters. Maternally Yours, is a coming of age dramedy excavating generational traumas, through the dynamic of a mother-daughter relationship threatened by archaic mistakes, yet, forced to heal in the exposé culture of the modern day world. We believing in telling the truth, we believe in growing and healing. This series is important for our healing and acceptance of one another.

Alexandria, La: The Heartbeat of Louisiana

Alexandria is the ninth-largest city in the state of Louisiana and is the parish seat of Rapides Parish, Louisiana, United States. It lies on the south bank of the Red River in almost the exact geographic center of the state.
Population: 50, 000
Why: Alexandria's quaint southern charm and subtle rural mystery will act as an additional character in the story. Alexandria carries its own distinct look and feel not similar to any other setting seen on mainstream or indie film yet it boasts unique culture and flair. Also, the city would appreciate the exposure gained from a well thought out indie film project and support a hometown filmmaker. Filming in this city gives its talented citizens an opportunity to collaborate in areas they may not normally have access to in film. This creates more marketing opportunities for the series as a whole.

We are asking for $6,000. This is for travel expenses, living accomodations, per diems and post production costs.

WE NEED:
- 4-5 Roundtrip Plane Tickets to travel from Los Angeles to New Orleans.
- A Weeklong Rental Car to Travel from New Orleans to Alexandria and Back, Plus City Travel.
- 3-4 Hotel Rooms to House Out of Town Cast and Crew for up to 6 Days.
- Food Per Diem to Keep Our Out of Towners Nourished for 6 Days.
- Post Production Color Correcting, Sound Design, and Sound Engineering.
