Welcome to Line Dance, Moon Jumper, & Squaring the Circle
What if every short film in an anthology wasn’t just connected by theme — but by character?
Squaring the Circle is a dramatic comedy anthology made up of five linked short films. Each story stands on its own, but characters pass the baton between them: a minor role in one becomes the lead in the next.
We’re currently raising funds for our next two chapters:
Line Dance – A lonely woman finds unexpected connection through community dance.
Moon Jumper – A heartbroken ex goes looking for a lost poem and finds chaos (and maybe healing).
These films are tender, strange, funny, and honest. Think of them as short stories with shared DNA — rooted in Colorado, made by local artists, and crafted with real heart.
LINE DANCE
LINE DANCE tells the story of Tessa, a woman putting the pieces of her life back together. She's a divorced, recovering alcoholic who is estranged from her son and works at a crematorium. She's also very lonely. She starts taking dance classes at Denver Turnverein, a community hall where line dancing reigns supreme. Slowly, she begins to reconnect with herself and the world around her. The prospect of an unexpected romance presents itself when she encounters Gene on the dance floor. He seems to be everything she is not: carefree, impulsive, and magnetic. The movie tracks the beginnings of their complicated emotional dance as she finds her own voice and power.
MOON JUMPER
MOON JUMPER (originally titled Midnight Blunt Exchange) finds Rosie, a woman tottering on the edge of sanity who has just learned via the joys of social media that her Ex of many years is getting married to... not her. Enraged and under the impression that he is out of town, she breaks into his house seeking a book of poetry she wrote for him long ago. As she ransacks the joint searching for the book, she finds more than she bargained for: sorrow, regret and some uncomfortable truths. Things only get worse when the Ex unexpectedly returns. And then the Dread Gnome King of Havoc arrives.

FUNDRAISING GOALS
Our production goal is $8,000. We need to hit $6,400 (80%) to get funded. These funds will pay for cast, crew, food, transportation, insurance, travel, location costs, equipment, post production costs, producer assistant roles, social media expenses and much more. Believe it or not, but any film made for under $250K is considered micro-budget. Even so, our micro-budget needs some love!
This will help us get started, but we would love to be able to pay our cast and crew more and to upgrade our equipment. As such, we have...
Stretch Goals
We’re aiming for $8,000 — but if we surpass that, here’s what your extra support will help us do:
- $10,000 – Jump-start production on our fourth short film, scheduled to shoot in Fall 2025.
- $12,000 – Fully fund short #4 and cover festival entry fees to get all of our films in front of wider audiences.
- $15,000 – Upgrade our camera and sound equipment, enhance post-production, and boost the overall production value of the entire anthology.
Every dollar beyond our base goal goes directly into making more stories, hiring more artists, and reaching more people.

TIME LINE
Line Dance is deep in post-production with an estimated finish date of April 30. Moon Jumper is in pre-production, and will shoot later Spring/early Summer.
McSquared Productions will be entering these shorts into film festivals!
Our first short, Burning the Old Man, is currently doing the "Festival Circuit". It had its world premiere last fall at the SOHO International Film Festival, and has since been been officially selected for the Beaufort International Film Festival, Four Corners Film Festival, to name a few. These festivals are wonderful events that help us promote our film, seek distribution, and meet potential collaborators and backers.
We want to continue making films here in Colorado. We have plans to shoot a feature in the next year. Meeting fellow film makers, producers, actors, writers, and so on is a vital way to grow our business, make connections, meet future employees, and publicize our work. It is also one of the paths to distribution, which would enable us to share our work with a much wider audience.

McSquared Productions is Robert Kelly McAllister & Timothy McCracken. We have known each other for well over thirty years, from doing summer stock theatre in California to world premieres in New York City to now both living and working in Denver in both the theatre and film world.
