Mom's Acting Boss Again

Comedy, Musical
A big ol' musical in which Ant and Laurel, siblings and hipster failchildren, wake up to learn their mom has unretired from leading a shadowy, if whimsical, crime syndicate. As they retake their posts and run their rackets, they'll meet wacky lackeys, fall in love, and sing and dance a whole lot.

The Title
Mom's Acting Boss Again, as in
Mom
Is
Acting Boss
A definitionally temporary position of management in an organized crime body - often, though not exclusively, one who is executing the functions of "boss" while a de jure boss is incapacitated
Again
"Acting boss" is a job, and mom is acting boss again.

Mom’s Acting Boss Again is a musical comedy that follows Ant and Laurel, two disaffected hipster siblings, as they make the rounds of their family’s mysterious (and chill) crime syndicate to share the news: their mom is acting boss again. On the way, they’ll fall in love, experience intrigue, and sing and dance a lot. In New York!

Julien Alam as Ant: Hopeless romantic, disaffected loser, as rude as you can get while still falling under the category of “people pleaser.” Wants better but lazy. Almost moral. Ant contains multitudes.
BT Hayes as Laurel: Fun and competent if and only if she feels like it. We just hope she’s gonna get her act together one of these days. We’re all rooting for her. But she’s so mean!

As the bad guys bank on everyone hiding from the horrors by becoming evermore doomscroll zombies:
it's on us all to enact the now-countercultural practice of fostering true in-person community.
The best way to do this is of course actual participation in left politics
But for better or worse we are also a musical comedy act. So let's do community via a big ol' party of an old-school movie musical to watch together
We hope to begin principal photography in March 2027!
If you give at the "we will bake you a focaccia" level and live outside of the tri-state, rest assured we will figure it out
