The Story
In Murder? I Hardly Know Her., awkward college student Luna accidentally kills her popular football player boyfriend Mark, right before the massive Halloween party that she’s hosting with her best friend, Frankie. The two women now have a dilemma: cancel the party and risk their social status? Or, throw the party, and figure out what to do with a dead body?
After some hesitation, they end up dressing Mark’s body and pass him off as part of the decorations, hoping no one notices...until his ex-girlfriend, Sara, shows up.

Growing up an introvert, it's always been difficult for me to fit in without an extra push, even now in my 20s.
I've spent much of my life struggling to connect with others, often feeling invisible while questioning what I was doing wrong, wishing it were easy for me to simply walk up to someone and start conversations. Though I would try, and even rehearse in my head what I would like to say to new people, I just cannot physically get myself to do it on my own terms.
My experience has shaped how I move through social spaces today. I take my time opening up and feeling comfortable being myself, choosing not to change who I am just to fit in.
I find it hard to find media to relate to as a young adult fresh out of her undergrad, as most stories focus on high school or middle school scenarios. MIHKH shines a light on those navigating these complicated feelings beyond their teenage years, challenging the misconception that this is something you can "simply grow out of after high school."
I've also seen how powerful and dangerous the need to fit in can be, pushing people to compromise their values just to feel accepted. That's why MIHKH explores the limits that someone may go to, in order to feel accepted by society.

The film is inspired, both visually and through it's dialogue, by Lisa Frankenstein (2024), Bottoms (2023), Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022), and Jawbreaker (1999). Just like these films, it embraces a fun, campy horror-comedy tone that is playful on the surface, yet intentionally unsettling underneath.
Visually, the film relies on soft neon lighting and saturated colors to evoke a lively party atmosphere, while also creating a dreamy, slightly hazy quality that subtly hides what is happening.
With two strong Latina leads, MIHKH brings a fresh perspective to horror comedy, and lets me, as a Latina myself, connect even more to the story.

Beneath it's campy chaos, Murder? I Hardly Know Her. can spark many conversations:
How people feel like they have to go to the extreme in order to fit in.
And embarrassed, awkward adults who feel they're "too old" to care.
While I do not expect anyone to have gone through this particular situation (at least I hope not), at it's heart, MIHKH is truly about acceptance and the desire for validation.
Our goal is to share MIHKH at festivals both in the US and internationally, and to connect with socially-awkward adults everywhere!
