The Story
The Story
Christina, a young reporter living in New York City that struggles with anxiety, discovers the developing story of a mysterious, violent virus in Asia, a virus which causes the infected to inflict irreparable harm to themselves. The main cause of the virus- a hyperactive limbic system, caused by the overexposure to social media and the 24 hour news cycle.
As Christina starts to notice more and more signs of the virus’ coming stateside, the internal and external pressures of modern life and dealing with anxiety begin to take over. When she’s pressured by her boss to cut the story, she must choose what she believes the real danger is.
Director's Statement
This story is one that I've been wanting to tell for a while, and I believe now is the right time for it. With the critical and commercial success of recent films such as Get Out, Split, and It: Chapter One, it's clear that audiences are looking for ways to experience the fears and anxiety in real life through the horror genre. Audiences will be able to see themselves in Christina, and feel the fears of technology's effects on our lives in a deep way. This film will continue to relfect our fears and evolve as the world of technology evolves and changes around us, and audiences will find something new in the film with each viewing.
