Mission Statement

NECROMANTIC is a feminist and LGBTQ+ film. The protagonist is a teen girl with a fatal crush on a popular girl in school. Gay representation is at the forefront of this film and thus, NECROMANTIC will be marketed toward the teen LGBTQ+ community, with the goal of making them feel less alone.

The Story

THE STORY

Angelica, an offbeat, novice teenage witch has a crush on a beautiful, popular, model-type named Eve. However, the odds are not in Angelica's favor because Eve has a boyfriend. In order to win Eve's affection, Angelica decides to haphazardly concoct a love potion that she believes will earn her Eve's heart in one sip. Unfortunately, because Angelica is a brand new witch, she messes up the recipe which causes her whole plan to turn upsidedown. In one night, Angelica must turn to... other...darker... methods to "get the girl."

WHY CONTRIBUTE?

This film is my Junior Thesis Film, meaning that it is the most important film that I will make in my college career at Loyola Marymount. Two and a half years of film school has prepared me to lead a crew to make an impactful, unique short film, and now I am finally ready to make it happen. I have a supportive and hardworking team of film students that you can learn about by clicking on the TEAM tab. Scroll through their descriptions and see their beautiful faces photoshopped onto tarot cards by our Art Director, Lily Kerns. They are all extremely excited to work together to make this vision come to life!

CREDENTIALS

In addition to being a film production student at Loyola Marymount University, one of the top film schools in the country, I have had five internships at production companies in the past year, with three of these being horror film companies, including Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures and Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions. I have studied horror filmmaking under some of the most prominent horror producers in the industry, read hundreds of horror scripts, and understand the horror filmmaking process more thoroughly now than ever. Most of my film crew are huge horror aficionados and have watched hundreds of horror films in their lives as well, preparing them for this very project, giving them the inspiration to draw from to do their jobs well.

WHAT WE NEED

In order for this film to happen, we need to rent out a high school in the Los Angeles area, buy and rent many props, design each set, design wardrobe, rent equipment, rent moving trucks, and provide food for all of the cast and crew in exchange for their hard work.

In exchange for us owning the rights to our films, my film school does not fund our projects. Therefore, we are expected to figure out how to pay for our films ourselves. As you probably know, filmmaking is not cheap, and it's not easy. It is one of the most complicated art forms; requiring a crisp sound, beautiful visual quality, and a well-written story. These components require a ton of planning, hard work, and resources to create. That's where we need your help in order to make this project as good as it can be.

WHAT YOU GET

In exchange for your generous contribution to our project, we are offering a number of INCENTIVES listed on the right of the page. These range from a shoutout on NECROMANTIC'S social media pages to tarot card readings by Jordan, to receiving a credit of Executive Producer on the film, as well as a hard copy of the film delivered to you. Please feel free to browse these options. If none of them strike your fancy, you can contribute directly to the WISH LIST.

Meet The Necromantic Team

Jordan Pfeifer, Director, Writer, and Executive Producer

Jordan is a film major from Austin, Texas who is on the track to becoming a Creative Executive Producer, hopefully eventually being able to develop and produce her own feminist horror and psychological films. She has had a dream of being a filmmaker since she was 11 years old, and she's so grateful that she's now on the track to becoming one, due to the love and support from her family and friends!

Isaac Bedford, 1st Assistant Director

Isaac is a third-year film production major at Loyola Marymount University as well as an aspiring writer-director. He plans on telling engaging, original stories that both inspire and evoke compelling emotions from audiences. I enjoy collaborating with others to help tell their stories as well.

Giselle Omar, Executive Producer

Giselle is a film production major and screenwriting minor with an affinity for story-telling and a passion for bringing stories to life on a budget.

Anastasia Zavodnick, Executive Producer

Anastasia is a junior at USC studying film and theatre. She met Jordan through interning at Blumhouse Productions and is so excited to work with her and the rest of the team on this project.

Amshu Medapa, Co-Producer

Hayley Nash, Co-Producer

Aiming to help creative individuals develop their ideas into extraordinary features and series, Hayley Nash is a young entertainment professional with experience working at a variety of award-winning production companies and studios. She is excited to act as co-producer on this project and help bring this incredible, unique story to life.

Justin Tang, Cinematographer

Justin was born and raised in Hong Kong. He is devoted to giving a voice to people that deserve to have one.

Rishabh Trivedi, 1st Assistant Camera

The most pretentious thing about Rishabh is that he likes season 2 of The Wire the most.

Syuen Chia, 2nd Assistant Camera

Syuen is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With a love for adventure, she discovered her love for storytelling through writing and photography and has since found her happy place in the world of filmmaking.

Lily Kerns, Art Director

Lily is from St. Louis and has a deep love for cats and filmmaking. She is super excited about the opportunity to help make this film look frickin’ spooky.

Juan Belardi, Production Designer

Juan, also called Juanald, plays guitar and violin, and he loves all genres of music. He loves movies and writing stories. He believes dogs are better people than people. He also loves standup as much as he loves horror movies. He watches Jeopardy for fun and keeps score to feel smart.

James Oxyer, Script Supervisor

James is a screenwriter from Chicago who has harbored an affinity for the macabre ever since his parents left him at a dog pound at the age of four. Emily Phillips, Key Grip

Emily is a junior film prod major who will be joining Necromantic as the key grip! Lover of music, nature, all things physical.

Taylor Woolstenhulme, Grip
