The Story
Need Money Quick? is the senior capstone project of writer/director Ian Whisner, and the culmination of the skills he and his crew members have acquired in their time as Film & Moving Image students at Stevenson University. We are all beyond excited to bring this film to life, and we want to deliver the highest quality product possible - which is no small feat.

"There's always another way." - Our protagonist, Will Meyers - a down on his luck CS student - reads this quote from a promotional poster for “JJ’s Way Loan Office” right after he’s denied for his student loans. Fortunately, he learns that he can get approved if he pays a portion of what he owes, which comes to… $20,000. Oh, and loans are due by the end of the week.
With nowhere to turn, Will accepts a shady job offer to cover-up a crypto-currency transaction, desperate to gather the money. But, when he loses the flash drive with the transaction log, he finds himself caught in a web of crime and illicit dealings worse than anything he imagined. Out of options and running out of time, Will must use his wits to stay alive and try to get to the bottom of who’s after him and the drive… before it’s too late.

Need Money Quick? takes inspiration from classic Hollywood crime thrillers, but adds some modern twists. Gone are the days of money-packed briefcases and meetings in casino backrooms, we now live in a world of cyber-crime, and NMQ? is a crime tale for a digital world.
Inspired by the work of Scorsese, the Safdies, Michael Mann, the Coens, and more; our film aims to both engage and entertain the audience as they’re taken for a dizzying trip into the colorful underworld of virtual crime. With the anxiety-inducing fervor of Good Time, and the comedic helplessness of After Hours, our film will be a wild ride that fuses the best parts of the Crime, Thriller, and Comedy genres to create something wholly unique.
Shooting is scheduled for March 2024, and we have a full cast and crew that cannot wait to begin working on this amazing project! With your generous donation, we'll be able to rent the best equipment possible, compensate our cast for their work, build the world of the film, submit to film festivals, and much more! Your donations will also give you access to a number of exclusive perks, ranging from a social media shoutout all the way to an Executive Producer credit.
Even if you can't donate, sharing our project on social media and/or following our Seed&Spark page will help out immensely, and we appreciate any support you can give! Our film will premiere at the 2024 Stevenson Student Showcase in May, and a festival tour will follow.
