Inglewood is full of life, humor, and unforgettable people — but that story rarely gets told. We're making a mockumentary comedy pilot that finally puts the comedy in our community. Join the block.

Mission Statement

To prove that Inglewood's story doesn't have to be dramatic to be compelling. Our mission is to spotlight the comedy in everyday Black and Brown community life — and get it in front of the audiences that deserve it.

The Story

Neighborhood Watch: Inglewood follows a tight-knit — and deeply dysfunctional — group of volunteers who have spent years keeping their block safe. When their street is officially named the safest in Inglewood, they call an emergency meeting to celebrate and plan their next move. What unfolds in that room makes one thing very clear: the greatest threat to the neighborhood has been sitting in the living room the whole time.

Shot in the mockumentary format and set entirely in Inglewood, the pilot is a character-driven ensemble comedy built around the kind of people every neighborhood has — the ones who are too loud, too involved, and absolutely convinced they know best. Think Abbott Elementary energy, Inglewood address.

Inglewood is one of the most upbeat, alive cities in Southern California. It has energy, personality, and some of the most unforgettable people you'll ever meet on a block. But when Inglewood shows up on screen, the story is almost always told dramatically — the crime, the tension, the stakes. What gets left out is what actually makes the city worth living in: the everyday relationships, and the family feeling being in a close-knit community brings. That's the Inglewood I grew up around.

And that's the story I wanted to tell. So I did — from scratch, and independently, because I believe this story deserves to be told by someone who's actually from Inglewood. Someone who got their school uniforms on Market St., saw the Lakers play at the Great Western Forum, played at Darby Park, and chose to return there after college to put down roots — like me. Every decision, every frame, every casting choice has been made with intention. And now I need your help to make it real.

Every dollar raised goes directly into production. Our $5,505 goal covers our cast of 9, a full two-day crew, camera and sound gear, production design, catering, post production, and our initial festival run. You can see exactly how every dollar is allocated in our WishList — there's no mystery here, just a tight budget and a team ready to make the most of it.

Whether you give $25 or $1,000, you're not just backing a pilot — you're backing a perspective that doesn't get enough screen time. You're backing an Inglewood story told by someone who actually grew up there. And you're helping prove that independent, community-made comedy can find its audience without a studio co-sign.

The watch is active. Join the block.

About This Team

Destiny Dennis | Writer, Director & Co-Producer Destiny Dennis is an Inglewood native and the creative force behind Neighborhood Watch: Inglewood. As the creator, every element of this project reflects her vision for reshaping Inglewood's story driven by a cast of familiar characters — loud, funny, and full of life. She wrote this project, because she was tired of waiting for someone else to do it.

Jodiee Danielle | Co-Producer Jodiee brings both roots and range to this project. Inglewood born and South LA raised, she understands intimately the community this show is celebrating. As co-producer, she's the backbone of making sure this vision gets executed with the care and intention it deserves.

Kelly Flicks | Director of Photography Kelly Flicks is an Inglewood native whose eye for visual storytelling will bring the world of the show to life on screen. Having a DP who is from the community isn't just a creative choice — it means every frame is shot with genuine love for the city.

This isn't a project about Inglewood made by outsiders looking in. This is Inglewood telling its own story — from the writing room to the camera.
