Mission Statement
The Story
Thank you all SO, SO much for donating to and supporting our project. As of February 15th, WE ARE AT 100% OF OUR GOAL of $15,750! However...
We are STILL welcoming contributions. We've decided to shoot for the stars and extend our goal to reflect additional needs for the shoot! See below what our extended goal(s) would provide our team:
$17,500 - Allows us to shoot on location in Mammoth Lakes, CA
$18,00 - Allows us to shoot on location in Mammoth Lakes, CA AND shoot beautiful underwater sequences for the climax of the film at a water tank in LA!
$20,000 - Allows us to shoot as planned above AND increases our post-production budget to get us a surround sound mix and a top-tier color grade!
So if you haven't contributed/pledged yet, it's not too late to do so and help us continue to make this the best possible short it can be!
Now onto the story...
“ Death is a thief. A horrible thief. But the one thing it cannot steal is love.”
This story follows identical twins, the academic Kinley and free-spirited Willow, as they embark on one last difficult hike - the Montera Summit- before they part ways for college in the fall. However, a third and very unwelcome guest has joined along for the ride: grief, changing the whole dynamic of their relationship for the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Through a journey full of laughter, tears, adventures, and crazy mishaps, these sisters will ultimately find their way back to one another and, most importantly, themselves.

For years, my sister and I have been trying to find the exact words to explain our twin bond. This includes its pros, its cons, its sheer simplicity, and its deep complexity. We will probably never find the right words to properly explain what our rare twin connection is like, so we hope this film will illustrate that for us.
We also hope this film will be one of the more realistic and honest portrayals of twins in the industry today and be able to exemplify the strength, playfulness, and pain that not only define our relationship, but also the relationships of twins (and siblings) everywhere.
Even though being a twin is like being born with your best friend, the reality is also that being a twin means you experience both the highs and lows of life, not only once for yourself, but twice for your twin. That is why grief is the perfect emotional vehicle to fully explore Kinley and Willow's relationship. Grief, like the twin bond, often knows no boundaries, has no end, and is also equally full of love.
Let's be real. Like grief, your twin can be quite the stubborn son of a bitch!

Because we want to isolate the twins' relationship and emotions from the outside word, we decided to set this story deep in the wilderness. No wifi. No escape route. No one to intervene. Just two sisters and their raw feelings in a natural and equally raw landscape.
We also want the isolating nature of the remote setting to reflect the isolating nature of what it means to be a twin or a multiple living in a world full of people who will never understand your existence. We hope this film gives you a glimpse of what being a twin is really like.

We are currently in pre-production and have locked shoot dates in early April. Then, of course, we will go into post-production shortly after.
We currently have a portion of the budget covered but want to make sure our hard-working crew is paid fairly, fed well (very important!), and given all the equipment they need to do their jobs to their best abilities.
We also want to be able to pay for Covid precautions for our crew, including necessary tests, masks, and sanitary equipment to make sure everyone is safe and healthy! We acknowledge the unique challenges that come along with filming during the ongoing pandemic. Our producer spent 2020 and 2021 working as a Health & Safety Manager, and is intimately familiar with the steps needed to make a production safe and successful.

Please consider contributing or sharing the link with those who have the means to make a pledge! We would so appreciate your help and support on this big next step in our career and life. Every dollar counts!
Thank you all so much for joining us on this journey and we can’t wait to share this film with you all once it’s completed :)
