Mission Statement

During my freshman year as a film student, I was eager to make my mark as a creative. An idea came to me, and four years later, I am finally ready to bring it to life with a team of friends I believe in. I hope to inspire women in filmmaking to forge their own path and never give up on their dreams.

The Story

Have you ever had that exciting feeling as a kid when your parent would take you to the store and buy a new pair of shoes for the new school year. Took so much care of them and tried not to creese them of scuff them in any way possible, making sure they stayed looking new by cleaning them after every wear. The obsession of wanting to keep your shoe clean and not letting them get like your other beaters. Then again you love these shoes and want to wear them any chance you get, showing them off to the public and starting to pay less attention to where your stepping.

Eventually you start to no check up on your shoes as much as you did before, not caring for the creeses anymore and not being attentive to them. You start to loose passion and motivation to keeping them clean leading them to become regular war shoes "beaters". You then move on and create a new desire to get New Shoes and start the cycle again. From New Shoes to Beaters, we've all been there; this short film is a message to all the other stories and history people have with their own shoes.

NEW SHOES takes the perspective of a shoe and its lifecycle. Going from a fresh pair with crease protectant and all, to beaters that you keep in the back of your closet. We've all been there, and so have the shoes.

Following only the shoe, the short film takes the viewer on quite an adventure. Walking around the city, nights out dancing, and the eventual first scuff. Throughout the film, the damage grows along with the owner's resentment for his 'new' shoes. Where do they go from here?

You may be wondering, "Why New Shoes? Why focus on this?" Well, its a universal experience shared across cultures, ages, and many more. We all share the life that our shoes help us walk in, so why not highlight that. That shared experience is something that all grows us closer together, something worth giving the extra thought.

You, yes you! You are the audience of the film. New Shoes was made for you and by the many others who have gone through the same experience. The film is for those who have taken that extra second to match their outfit to their shoes. Those who wipe off the tiniest scuff. Those who bite the bullet and say "shoes are meant to be worn!"

But only you could help us make the film possible. By watching, contributing to our fundraiser, sharing, and just reading through this, you are already helping!

By contributing to our project, you can help us purchase the pieces we need for set design, like the shoes! Not just that, but staying up to date with our film means supporting students and independent artists. We are making New Shoes because we want to prove we can do just as well, if not better, than those who have been working for years. We have been waiting for this opportunity and we cant wait to jump on it.

Your contribution would go towards paying actors, securing locations, and helping us through post production!

With a goal of $1500 and a maximum of $2,500, the money would be able to help cover the costs of the pairs of shoes, feed our crew, secure specific locations, and directly support the creative vision. You'll be able to see our hard work and dedication through each shot, looking camera-ready and quite professional!
