Nightmare at Nana's
Brattleboro, Vermont | Film Feature
Comedy, Horror
In a climate of division, there is one thing we can agree on; campy 80's horror movies are lots of fun. We are making a love letter to that era, while turning tropes on their head in the process. A film set in the beautiful state of VT, with heart, humor and a healthy serving of cannibalism.

The Story
Synopsis:
Simon has always been supportive of his brother Nick’s increasingly unrealistic dreams of becoming a rock god, even after he himself left the band to focus on more adult things, such as local politics.
However, when Nick’s self-centered behavior starts to affect Simon’s own ambitions, he decides it’s time to set a boundary. Out of pity and nostalgia, Simon reluctantly agrees to do one last favor for Nick; drive him to an audition for famed music producer The Maestro.
Their journey is quickly impeded by an unsettling, backwoods loner named Judd, who has a bone to pick with Simon. With a flat tire in the middle of the woods, no cell reception and night swiftly approaching, the brothers, along with another hitchhiking couple take refuge with a charitable elderly woman who goes by the nickname Nana. Little do they know that Judd is stalking them from the shadows of the Vermont forest.
The blood-soaked events that ensue can only be referred to as a "Nightmare at Nana’s”.
Why We're Making It:
Everyone involved in this production has been inspired by, and has appreciation for campy horror films of the 80's. Particularly the ones that were self-aware of the comedy in their campiness, and leaned into that. We want to make a film that embraces those qualities, while also having interesting character arcs, narrative twists and a cinematic focus on showcasing the gorgeous Vermont landscape.
This is truly a homegrown affair, with the majority of our team located in, or originally from the southern Vermont area. Branching out from our production team, we strive to engage the local community in the filmmaking process, and bring an experience and art piece to the area that is exciting and unprecedented, while also representative of Brattleboro's artistic and individualistic sensibilities.
Your Contribution:
With our film equipment already accounted for and several locations confirmed, we are raising money to ensure we can pay all the cast and crew for their time, and keep them well fed in the process. We are a scrappy team, and most of us come from DIY filmmaking backgrounds, so we are accustomed to being very creative with very little funding. No matter the $ amount we end up with, you can be sure that we will make this film. However, if we are well-funded, that will mean that everyone involved will be fully focused on the production during principal photography, without worrying about juggling day-jobs. Every dollar you contribute will increase our production value and efficiency in creating, and ultimately releasing this film.
