The Story
NYARLATHOTEP - is SIN CITY meets LOVECRAFT when a strange figure stirs up trouble in a small Midwestern town the local leaders send in a spy, but things go horribly wrong when their spy falls under the madman's spell.
Frog Lab is a Midwestern cult of mad scientists conducting radical experiments with religion, politics, and weird fiction for horror fans. We want to create a completely independent film that allows us to tell you the stories we know you love. There are tons of big budget CGI driven comic films out there, but fans of horror and Lovecraft want films that will haunt them long after the pretty lights have faded.
We wrote a great screenplay, hired some talented actors, and converted our garage into a green studio in order to make this film without any compromise. H.P. Lovecraft wrote: "The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown." We don't fear the unknown. We embrace it. We challenge it!
WE EXPERIMENT WITH IT.
We assembled our team, had table reads, and begin make-up tests and more test footage in August. Our goal is to shoot this September and with your help we'll be able to complete filming before the end of Summer. When it's completed we will submit NYARLATHOTEP to genre festivals (e.g. H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival, Fantasia, HorrorHound, Days of the Dead, etc.) throughout the United States. Those that give $25 or more will receive a private link to watch the film prior to its festival run.
Should we exceed our goals then all additional donations will go toward the completion of the feature film THE CHURCH OF CHAOS - where we'll see the impact Nyarlathotep has on the community as chaos spreads.

Red is the symbol of Chaos. While the rest of the world is b&w RED and YELLOW may appear. We also need 1 police uniform!
Cast

These talented actors need paid for their 2 days of work! The entire film will be shot in front of a green screen, but the actors are live!
Food
Costs $200
We have to feed those live actors so they don't shrivel up and get cast for one of those 28 YEARS LATER spin-offs.
Travel
Costs $250
Some of our cast need to drive from miles away and we're not making a "Cabin in the Woods" type of horror film, so they need gas money.
Make-Up!
Costs $125
Shooting in Black & White requires a different type of make-up. Plus, this is horror so THERE WILL BE BLOOD!
Wardrobe
Costs $350
Uh...we're not making that kind of film, so we need to put some clothes on these people.

About This Team
Kermet Merl Key is the writer, producer, director and editor of NYARLATHOTEP - a Frog Lab Experiment. The script was a finalist at A NIGHT OF HORROR film festival this past Spring. His first short film THE WATCHER BY THE DEAD premiered at the HOOSIER FILM FESTIVAL and won the Herschell Gordon Lewis Aware for Best Kill/Special Effects at SEVERED LIMBS in 2022. His first feature film EAT THE RICH has earned critical acclaim and is available on Tubi.
Kharn Alexander is the casting director, co-director, stunt coordinator, producer and NYARLATHOTEP. He has a BFA in Acting from Ball State University, an MFA in Theatre from the University of Southern Mississippi and he's been a teaching artist at Coterie Theater, a stunt actor for Ronin Stunt Company, and a professional wrestler. He starred as "Adam Beard" in Kermet Merl Key's 2023 film EAT THE RICH.
Kimberly Killjoy is the art-director and producer of NYARLATHOTEP - a Frog Lab Experiment. She has a degree in Film from Full Sail University and years of experience as stage manager for the Mill Race Theater Company in Columbus, IN.
