The Story
Oki Oki Oki is a supernatural horror short about grief, identity, and the stories we refuse to let die.
After her mother's sudden death, Oki returns home to inherit the family karaoke bar that she doesn't want so she decides to sell it. Hoping to leave the past behind, she spends one final night cleaning the empty building while two ordinary customers rent a room for karaoke. But after performing a mysterious song connected to a murdered pop star, the night takes a twist.
Oki Oki Oki explores how grief can consume identity, and what happens when memories become performances that refuse to end.
I decided to make this film now because I find the topic of fans and celebrities very fascinating. We live in a time where being a fan of someone can be categorized as a personality trait and that seems like a fun topic to talk about.
As someone who's made a few short narrative films, I would love for this to be my last one before I make the leap into making feature films.
As of right now, we are deep into pre-production. We have a wonderful cast & crew that I'm excited to share and talk about on our social media @okiokiokifilm so please give us a follow there. This is where we'll be posting our weekly updates regarding the film itself.
Most of the cost of filming will got straight to our cast & crew whether it is meals, lodging, and just providing them whatever they need to make sure this is a film that they are proud of.
After we finish production and editing the film, we plan on giving it a festival run that it deserves. We'll be most likely submitting to the main genre film festivals as well as some regional/local fests. Submitting to festivals can add up in costs as well, your donations will help give us a chance to bring it to festivals all over the world.

About This Team
Christian Yamane
Christian Yamane is a writer, director and producer based out of San Diego. Creating boring films is his biggest fear so his work tends to be visually striking and genre bending; making sure his films are distinctive to him.
Most of his experience comes from writing, directing, producing narrative films, music videos, and fashion ads. Known for his absurd stories and unique visual style, he aims to make films that defy conventional storytelling.
During karaoke sessions, Christian tends to be holding the tambourine, often off beat and/or being the singer's hype man by providing unwanted back up vocals.
Lauren Garces
Lauren Balcita Garces is a city-wide event producer and artist currently based in San Diego, California focusing on diverse community empowerment and sustainable, inclusive economic development. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Social Innovation at the University of San Diego Kroc School of Peace and Justice.
Through her event production and consulting company Social Artistry, Lauren strives to create innovative community events and programs that advocate for, synergize, celebrate, and empower diverse communities.
A leader and advocate in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, she serves as the Co-Chair of the San Diego Asian Pacific Islander Coalition and as the Special Events & Community Development Advisor with The Doan Foundation.
Juyeon Song
(as Oki)
Juyeon Song is a Korean-born actor and producer based in Los Angeles. She discovered her love for acting through Korean cinema and graduated from New York University Tisch School of the Arts' ETW. She originated the role of Jane in The Heart Sellers at The Huntington Theatre Company and The Guthrie Theater, appeared in Kim's Convenience at Studio Theatre in Florida, and will make her Off-Broadway debut with The Heart Sellers in January 2027.
Her screen credits include Deli Love, voice work for BEEF Season 2, After One Comes Two, Pedigree, White Butterfly, and Parked in America.
She loves singing "Yesterday" by The Beatles at karaoke. She’s pretty good at it.
Kailyn Dulay
(as Alice)
Kailyn is a Filipino-American actress, best known for her work as the lead role in the short film “When You Left Me on That Boulevard”, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and won the Short Film Grand Jury Prize. Most recently, she was in the short film “Public Freakout”, which was a part of the 2024-2025 AFI DWW+ program.
Her love of performing stems from participating in her school’s glee club, from late elementary to middle school. She loves being able to tell stories and play different types of characters that allow audiences to peek into different worlds and perspectives.
Favorite karaoke song: anything musical theater or 2000s emo, but really it’s Don’t Stop Believin' by Journey.
