Woody Fu plays Keanu Reeves in ONE MAN JOHN WICK, a comedy that stages a $100M action blockbuster with zero budget. It’s loud, physical, stupid-smart fun—with death-defying stunts, epic fights, and the world’s least-developed dead wife character. Help me bring the chaos to Edinburgh!

Mission Statement

This show is a comedy party, an interactive movie set, and a celebration of Keanu. He’s known for doing his own stunts, buying strangers motorcycles, and being genuinely kind. Let’s honor The Nicest Guy in Hollywood with a show as weird, sincere, and relentless as he is.

The Story

We’re adding a STRETCH GOAL!

As of my bday July 18, we are at 96%.

Because we are so close to our goal, I’m adding a STRETCH goal of $3,089

(this is so that the final amount raised ends in 88, which is good if you’re Chinese).

These additional funds will go into two important buckets:

1. MARKETING. In Edinburgh I am competing against 3500 other shows and streets are FLOODED with posters, postcards and ads. I will be investing in a two-prong marketing approach. One is Meta ads on Instagram and Facebook to specifically target fans of Keanu and comedy at Fringe. I tested this during my run of shows at Hollywood Fringe in June and it really works! Second is good old-fashioned street marketing (which actually works at Fringe) with postcards and hiring two uni students to help promote. Did I mention that my 18 year old nephew will also be there with me? We will both be dressed like Chinese John Wicks, handing out flyers. This would cover the digital ad buy, postcards, and extra manpower.

2. LODGING. As I mention in my video, I’m already out of pocket 12K on my AirBNB. The stretch goal would help reduce that cost.

THANK YOU to everyone who has been kind and generous enough to donate. This fundraising thing is way outside my comfort zone and I continued to be amazed at friends and family who popped up to help push this campaign off the ground. I am super grateful to everyone who pitched in! Let’s keep the momentum going in the final 2 days of the campaign and hit the stretch goal!

Hi! I’m Woody, a Chinese American character comedian.

This August I’m bringing my award-winning comedy WOODY FU: ONE MAN JOHN WICK to Edinburgh Fringe in Scotland. It is insanely expensive and I need your help. I am very proud of this show: it’s a fun, interactive, high-octane action comedy that lovingly satirizes the biggest action movie franchise of the last 10 years (take that, Expendables). 100% of the money raised goes directly into taking the show to Edinburgh, which if I haven't mentioned, is insanely expensive.

Get ready for the new JOHN WICK movie, because you're helping make it!

This scripted solo show takes us on the set of John Wick Chapter 5: E Pluribus Unum. Keanu needs the audience’s help to recreate all the hallmarks of this billion dollar franchise: car chases, gun-fu, and vaguely Eastern European thugs. Audience members become the crew on the "film set," filling out various jobs like Line Producer, Writer, and most importantly the Key Grip (the keys must be gripped).

Along the way, we'll ride motorcycles, snap some necks, and revisit Keanu's most iconic films in a celebration of our favorite sexagenarian Canadian action star.

ONE MAN JOHN WICK debuted at Hollywood Fringe last year, and has toured Chicago, Austin, SF, DC and Toronto. It also won some laurels:

Hollywood Fringe 2025:

• WINNER Comedy & Variety Acts Award

• WINNER Adelaide Fringe Exchange

• NOMINEE Hollywood Fringe Top Of Fringe Award

BEST OF FEST / Toronto Sketchfest 2025

SOLD OUT / SF Sketchfest 2025

Hollywood Fringe 2024:

• WINNER Best of Asylum

• WINNER Fringe Italia Exchange

• NOMINEE Hollywood Fringe Award for Comedy

• NOMINEE Adelaide Fringe Exchange Award

• Hollywood Fringe Scholarship

• SOLD OUT RUN

"One Man John Wick is relentless in its humor and action - an offering of Woody Fu’s generous and playful spirit!"

-COREY PODELL

DIRECTOR (VANESSA 5000 & MR CHONKERS)

"I didn't want to leave. I wanted to stay and watch Woody Fu impress me more. The show left me wanting to watch a three-hour version of the production, rather than going home and watching a three-hour John Wick movie."

-GIA ON THE MOVE

“A masterclass in physical comedy and charisma. With incredible stage presence and razor-sharp writing, Fu channels the spirit of Keanu Reeves while creating something entirely his own. This show is hilarious, heartfelt, and endlessly entertaining. From start to finish, the show is clever, tightly choreographed, and very, very funny. Woody’s performance is so engaging, I wasn’t ready for it to end. He doesn’t just capture the essence of a Canadian icon, he captures the hearts of the audience. An absolute must-see. You WILL leave wanting more.”

Who am I? GREAT Question.

I'm an actor and writer based in Los Angeles. I was featured as a New Face of Comedy by Just For Laughs. You may have seen me on ABC, CBS, FX, HBO Max, HULU, Comedy Central, Peacock, and Netflix, sharing the screen with Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, Awkwafina, Roy Wood Jr, Molly Shannon, Lisa Kudrow, Amy Schumer, Jack Quaid, and Jon Heder. Coming up, you can see me in Vince Gilligan’s highly anticipated AppleTV+ sci-fi series, and recurring in the Amazon show “The Runarounds.”

How did I get here? GREAT question.

Originally from New York, I'm a veteran of the UCB Theater, where I regularly performed improv, musical improv, sketch and characters. These comedy skills took me around the world. From Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, where I created an original sketch revue as the company’s first Asian American actor, to Edinburgh Fringe, where I joined the smash hit institution Baby Wants Candy and the 5-Star parody Thrones! The Musical (I played Jon Snow).

Why am I doing this? GREAT question.

I moved to LA from NY to pursue my acting career. When I arrived, the WGA and SAG strikes started. For months I was out of work and struggling to integrate into my new home. One of the unexpected places I found community was the clown scene. I loved the way it prioritized the audience, feeding off them and centering their enjoyment. I started to integrate this art form into my solo work. Could I devise a scripted character-based comedy show that also relied on the audience to make it an immediate, immersive experience?

With this in mind, I returned to a Keanu Reeves bit I wrote, in which he is the nicest guy in the world, but his movies are insanely violent. This fundamental contradiction drew me to him, and I realized that Keanu himself is a reluctant clown. He is endlessly watchable, shares everything with you, is vulnerable and surprisingly poignant, yet fundamentally a slightly ridiculous person, and audiences love him. Also he has Asian ancestry, and was one of the actors I was unconsciously drawn to as a teen. He is a strange gem in the homogenized white monoculture of Hollywood. And so am I!

I am paying out of pocket for this project. Have I mentioned it's insanely expensive? I need your help! My campaign goal covers only a portion of what I'm paying. That's right, I'm not even asking for everything I'm spending because it raises so many questions about Art v Commerce that we'd all get nosebleeds.

My biggest costs are lodging, promotion, and paying my team:

Lodging for the month of August: $12,060.81 By far my biggest expense, this covers a 3 BR flat for me and my team for the duration of the fest.

Renting my venue at Assembly The Crate: ~$5000 My venue is in a great location with lots of foot traffic in the heart of George Square. I don't have final numbers on this yet because they charge me based on how well the show does on its run. This estimate includes the deposit and a conservative estimate of ticket sales.

Printing posters with the festival-mandated vendor $1987.16 This gets my poster out on the streets of Edinburgh, competing in a sea of other posters.

• Hiring a UK Publicist to get press to come see the show, and arrange interviews $2386.98

• Promoter to coordinate posters and recruit a street team to help flyer $4111.30

• Producer to coordinate the labyrinthine maze of international travel/taxes and venue bureaucracy $994.57

• Flights to Edinburgh $843

I also gotta get my message out! Even without a financial contribution you can help:
