Frustrated by open mics, and forcing their friends to pay a two drink minimum, the girls see the comedy special they're creating as something that could kickstart their careers. They don't realize how difficult it is to produce a comedy show with no money, no connections and questionable talent.

The Story

Here we are at the end of pilot season and none of us have booked a lead in a sitcom... yet. So instead of anxiously staring at our phones willing them to ring, we are creating a Mockumentary. We believe that our comedic voices are just as powerful and unique as some of the comedians you see on comedy central but we haven't been given the opportunity to share that comedic voice with the world. So we are creating opportunities for oursleves. We are making our own Stand-up Comedy Special. In the process of creating our stand-up special we also hope to show everyone the true hustle for women in the industry of comedy. Ofcourse it's not all about the destination, a lot of this movie is about the journey. "The Openers" is the making of a stand-up special. Why is it a mockumentry? Because we are hilarioulsy clever women! We have the ability to laugh at ourselves and our situation so ofcourse there will be tons of comedy along the way. We are tired of being the minority, we are tired of our humor being scrutinized and judged by a small community of men, we are ready to break through and let everyone know that we are here, we are fearless, and we are inspiring to women of all ages. Special thanks to all the women who came before us forging the path for strong women in comedy; Lucille Ball, Moms Mabley, Betty White, Whoopi Goldberg, Roseanne Barr, and Joan rivers to name a few.

While in New York, Adrienne performed in several off Broadway shows including Caryl Churchill’s Top Girls and Neil Simon’s Chapter Two at the Second Stage Theater. While in Los Angeles, Adrienne has participated in several different films both short and independent. Her favorite film experience was an indie film entitled “Donuts” directed by True Blood star Chris Bauer. Currently she is training at The Groundlings Theater where she improvises and writes hilarious sketches soon to be seen on SNL. She has been performing stand up all over LA at such prestigious clubs such as Flappers, The Improv and The Comedy Store. Her most current project “I’m White?!” will be viewed at the LA Comdey Festival next Spring. She’s a happy girl.

KIMBERLEY DALTON MITCHELL, 2014 Winner for The American Black Film Festival NBC Universal Star Project, is a recent New York City transplant and taking on LA fiercely. In NY, she could be found Belting high G's and reciting sonnets with The Classical Theatre of Harlem, August Wilson's Women, HAIR, The Vagina Monologues, and many other Off-Broadway stages. New York is were she started working on her writing chops with her award winning film “Sealed” and other ultra low budget-independent- reality-web series under new media contract.

Here in L.A. most recently, I performed in the musical short "Hey Academy. I'm a Woman". All the freakish characters in her head have finally been pulled out at UCB, The Groundlings school, and her own sketch comedy series reaching over 30,000 views in their first month "FabulousnessNess with Clea + Jordan". Her Sketch Duo "Almost Black N White" were finalist in the Funny or Die Make'em LAFF competition.  As a member of the 2014 NBC Universal Diversity Showcase I've been fortunate to finally book my first recurring role on Days of Our lives. After all the crying and slow motion close ups she can be seen doing stand-up around town at prestigious clubs such as Flappers, The Improv, The Comedy Store. She has been described as “fearless” “adorable” “and hilarious”, and an all around nice southern girl. She is repped by Levity Entertainment Group.
